Nissan 5 spd or 6 spd?tranny

Well I have the motor for my FB,I got it from a salvage yard, the guy said it is rebuilt with 70 thousand miles on it and built up a bit, roller rocker cams etc.he estimated it to be around 325-350 hp from what the guy had told him when he traded it in for 2 less performance engines[he didn't like the gas milage]

Anyway I'm still looking for a tranny from what I gather I can only afford a 200r4,or a T5.I would use a t5 wc if I find one cheep enough.but I jsut thought of soemthing,I used to be into Z cars[untill I wrecked mine]anyway the tranny used in the z32TT models[90and up]are supposed to be very tough from what people have said, hammering on it at the strip and street with like 600HP and no problems.
I know its torque that kills trannys but the vg engines make some good torque numbers so if it holds that it should hold my 350hp engien right?
The non turbo is a bit weeker[they still can put 500hp behind it] but still sounds a lot stronger than the WC T5 finally they also have a 6spd from the 350Z,don't know if its as strong as the other 2 but I think so and they all have have a good overdrive,as the Z has close to what Rx7s have for gear rarios and tire size.

So how hard would it be to get one to fit a 350 in an rx7?I'm jsut asking becosue I have seen low miles/rebuilt nissan 5spd turbo trannys for sale on ebay fro ma company from japan and they are like 600 bucks,as oposed to like 1200 for a used t56 or like 2000-2500 for a rebuilt one.

There is nothing wrong with a 200-r4...unless you don't want to go automatic. If you can only afford a 200-r4 or a T-5 then I would either save up for what you want (6-speed probably) or buy something you can afford and start enjoying it asap. If the tranny you can afford is 'weak' but you gotta get it going then just don't beat on it as hard until you can get it right.

Or just keep waiting until you can afford to do it right, and in the meantime stare at it and get depressed....seems like that's what I'm doing.

Edit: Just re-read, I see you have an FB....I think the 200-r4 will be fine. That FB will be pretty light in the rear so you should probably focus on a 'tire fund'

^ agreed. but if thats what to want go for it. But your nissan trans info is kinda weak. First off the 350z trans are not as good as a z32 trans, this is a big question with 300z guys and its a simple answer of not tough enough. second dont buy a z32 trans on ebay they are over priced. you can pick up a 100k or less trans for $300 or even less, also keep in mind that a z32 n/a trans is the same internals but different bell housing, which would have to be changed any how to bolt up to a 350.
