man this has got to be one of the stupidest pissing contests ever....ok...so im a nissan guy...i guess in this conversation that doesnt matter though, because apparently were all nissan experts here. Anywho. a 300whp ka-t can be down with as little as 1500 bucks. Generally to do a Stock SR swap it'll cost you around 3k, thats with knowing the deals blah blah blah. becuase aprox 1500-2k for the motor and tranny with uncut harness ignitor, new fuel pump (walbro 255lph) new plugs, fuel filter...ect. (btw i have personally done and paid for 2 SR swaps) now thats stock everything, just getting it back to decent shape with some good parts. Now to do a ka-t setup, if you want SR power..it is apox 700 bucks, SR injectors, Log manifold, BOV, fuel pump, t25 or t28 turbo (both between 100-300 bucks used), safc, FMIC and piping. done deal 700 bucks. and that is reliable period. no ecu tunes...no bullshit. now for 3k on a ka-t you can, (if you have your own hone) get rods, pistons, main bearings for 1200 bucks, t3/t04e turbo (500-800 bucks), msd injectors (whatever size) ecu tune (500) FMIC setup, Bov, wastegate, and manifold for around a total of 3200 bucks. Done deal, and your looking at 300+whp...depending on whp size.

now wow...the ka-t does suck doesnt it...

Nihilanthic and the KA krew sure know how to use the search function really well. I'll give you credit for busting out all these numbers that anyone else could do, too, if they just googled stuff.

You failed to mention one thing; the KA might look great on paper, but under normal conditions--and by normal I mean someone who bolt's on a turbo and calls it a day and without an unlimited trustfund--the KA is more likely to blow than an SR. You can spout off all your numbers some more if you like, but I'm not really sure how many 240s you've been around--I've been around a lot.

The SR was built from the factory to accommodate the turbo and can handle the stress of that slug much better. No need to bust out your examples of daily driven cars, I don't really care because I've seen more than enough blow in my time. A lot of KA-T guys end up going SR and fall in love with the latter. And, no, I'm not saying SRs are bulletproof--I've seen them go boom.

You don't need to tell me me that you can install a headgasket, change the cam profile, whatever you like to make a KA less prone to grenading. Most guys don't have a lot of money and most guys aren't mechanically inclined enough to build a KA turbo for $700--it's probably a lot close to $2,000 for most. If they barely have enough cash for a turbo on a KA, how tell hell are they going to have the extra cash for all the other goodies?

Flames aside, we all know it comes down to preference; no one is going to give-in or listen. That's it, plain and simple.

Why do we need to rev so high with the SR? We don't, but it's fun. Sure, you give up some twist, but the Honda guys seem to be pretty happy with their almost-five-digit redlines. The KA is for guys who don't care about high-revs, but just want good mid-range and a lot of torque.

And since we're putting up photos of our 240s, here's a pre-widebody shot...

That's a beautiful car. I'm a Skyline fan at heart, and love the similiarity in lines between the S15 style 240s and the R32/R33 designs. Nice work.

I'll admit, SR's are definatly better for higher hp from the factory, i mean hell i have a friend that runs a 400+whp SR with stock HG and internals. However i think you fail to give the ka-t credit on a good tune. Again i'll admit most ka-ts on a bad tune will blow quickly (without interals being built) and that an SR will hold alot better on a bad tune. But for the people that know there stuff (or do there research) can have a ka-t on stock internals run decently high WHP #'s and still last a long time. Anywho..im done bitching

BTW...thats not an S15 if you didnt know, its a s14 with a strawberry face conversion...btw...nice car very clean

last post then im done with this stupid pissing match.

stock internal KA.

Ive never met so many haters as are on this forum. No other car forum ive been on, and I'm a member of quite a few, have been so biased towards anything in my life. Not necessarily about rotaries, but about everything. Everyone is so stubborn and set in their ways that they lack the ability to appreciate a car for what it is... someone's project that they are making their own creation. Getting upset and uptight about an engine selection hinders you from appreciating someone's hard work and enjoying cars in general. If someone wants to swap in a SR20, do it, I'm not going to flame someone for doing something that I personally wouldn't do, that's just asinine. If that person wants a SR20, then by all means do it. RB, do it. Hell if you want to put a 12a into a camaro, do it! If that's what you really want then it shouldnt matter what anyone else thinks, although people should realize that their opinions don't matter anyways. That person is going to do it if they want regardless if they have permission from complete strangers a thousand miles away.

Thats the end of my rant and my posting in this thread. Driftking, I will be following this thread and I wish you luck in your endeavor.

For one, I dont care what he works on if he makes stupid blanket statements that are debunked by the lowly likes of me

For two, I traded the saturn away after the engine siezed. It was left in a parking lot by an illegal immigrant that had stolen tags on it and I drove it until it died. Big whoop? I knew a guy with a working drivetrain and a wrecked body, and I did some dealing. Now I have a Sable... and I have for a long time.

Im getting a car after Im out of NC, and not in court as often as MJ or a ******* Tobacco CEO. As much money as Ive had slip between my fingers going to my own father in the guise of 'child supprt' or paying lawyers in the past three years I could have a damned LS1FD by now, but you know what? Thats nobody's business but my own unless I feel like sharing it, and I dont anymore.

And finally, dont ever speak about 12-step bullshit or (blank)-anonymous around me. You're smart, figure it out why I hate that bullshit.

I'm not downing anyone, Im asking a very simple question that they cant seem to get their heads around - "why spend time money and effort on swapping in a motor with 20% less displacement?" I get nonsense about which engine revs higher but not a damn reason for it. When someone answers with facts prices and logic, they tend to be on the KA side. Why is that?

If you want to go crtique someone, why not ask this person you have so much respect for why hes so ******* accomplished yet unable to do more than say "it sux lol" and spell like a 15 year old on myspace?

Surely you should hold this accomplished person to a higher standard than someone who you look down upon for driving an already fucked up beaner's car until it finally died, right? Besides, I havent had that for a LONG *** time, I drive a sable, and I dont plan on getting a sports car just to tow it behind me 3 states away.

Youre a logical man, why not hold that scientific candle up to the SR nutriders? Im not acting like a child, or spewing emotional nonsense, Im asking a simple, easily understood question, and I get some big name here going "ka sux".
