Got some more work done today, mainly worked with the interior, took the hood, fenders and bumper off. I also got the motor ready to pull, the next free day I have it will be out

I hated even getting the dash out...
Oh well, by the time thats ready to go back in I'll have the motor in so I'd imagine nothing could **** me off too bad haha

Hinson's inner bumpsteer kit allows you to lower the rack and still get the tie rods to be at the proper angle and length. Check into it, if you are lowering the rack. It eliminates all of the issues.

Sorry, but you are incorrrect. They have mounts for the R154 (5-speed), V160 (6-speed) and the automatic. You just have to specify when you purchase the kit. They are all the same price.

Either the steering rack gets lowered and you deal with bumpsteer, or you leave the rack where it's supposed to be and you get a Tech2 hood or one with similar clearance to compensate for th JZ motors' height. You can try setting the motor further back into the firewall as another member on this forum did, but that still seemed to require a bulge on the factory hood to gain some clearance.
The LS2/3 subframes for the FD lower the rack about an inch and a quarter, I have no bumpsteer issues and spot on steering geometry. My car has been on the road for 6 months.
The outer BS correction (basically shimmed outer tie rod ends) is a band aid at best and doesn't truly address the problem. Thus I would only go with the inner kit.
I had thought many people had tried the 2jz with the stock steering geometry, and all had failed to keep the hood stock. If Tech2 made a kit where they revised the oil pan and pickup, more power to them for getting the hood to close. That is great that companies keep coming up with Engine Conversion kits for the FD. It tells us just how good a chassis it really is.
How much does a 2jz with associated turbo components weigh? Iron block, if I remember right...
I like the conversion, but still think the LSx makes more sense from a packaging standpoint, especially for a car that sees road course track time.

Ok, i didnt saw that is it possible withe the 6-speed too. Why dont they only make the kits for the 6-speed? Or is there a good reason for the 5-Speed?

With Hinson's new BS kit, there is no need to modify the hood. You can lower the steering rack and still have perfect steering geometry. I think the kit is about $350, which was a lot cheaper than the last 2JZ hood I saw for the FD ($1000 IIRC).
