NJ anyone considering a 2jz or 1jz swap. please read

hello everyone

i currently own a 2jz gte rx7 ( FD ) and have personally gone through the swap myself, no shops or help from friends of any kind and well..... i am here to help you!!! i know how frustrating and exhausting building a car can be, especially if you are building one alone. since i have the experience with this set up and documented EVERYTHING i did, i am more than happy to share my knowledge with people.

-Tony

You dont happen to work for tech2, do ya?

Their customer service is horrible from what i hear.

Chances are good i'll be looking for a shifter extension and z32 front yolk to TII shaft kit. I'd rather not wait 6 months to a year for those items when the time comes because i damn sure dont plan to be motorless when i pop my rotary.

Before anyone starts, i'm not modifying anything that would inhibit me from swapping back and forth from 13b to jz to ka/sr/rb. I'm keeping my car for a while and chances are good i'm going to try out alot of different engines.

Very helpful guy.

I think I may take you up on that offer.

I currently have a MegaSquirt setup on my 2J, but will probably need help tying in everything for the stock gauges to operate like stock. But I'll cross that road when I get to it.

Also, for profession I'm a product development engineer focusing on mechanical design. In my spare time I design things like this engine subframe as well as run static simulations. Once my swap is done, we can share designs for the subframe, as well as any other parts and get them manufactured.

I'll keep an eye on this thread.
My build thread is on SupraForums, as I'm new here and don't know anyone.

I'm going to go AEM on my Supra here in a minute, right now I'm kinda limited around 650hp with the VPC.

Here's a link to my build-diary.
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=602170

It's going to take some time.

yea the 2jz sits much higher than the 1jz, you can make the 2jz fit with stock but the motor will be inches off the ground, which to me, its not safe!! and then since the motor is lower, so would be the tranny and the diff will have to come down as well, personally, i dont think its worth it,

Tony,
Do you have a shop to do the swaps? Can you post some pics of your FD swap? Just asking cause I'm getting tired of troubleshooting my triangles and not sure if I will have time to do the swap myself.

That's right.

I'm starting to get used to the scoot style hood. VIS.

I'll probably buy mine in a couple weeks.

Can anyone help me out with the dimensions of a 2JZ..

Height Bottom of sump to top of intake manifold or head?

Height from bottom of block to top of intake manifold or head or total height of sump?

Length from gearbox flange to front of crank pulley?

and weight, and condition when weighed?
