What are you going to do about the hood?

now that is a great question. its my last priority, because it honestly just makes me angry that its not gonna fit. i will most likely attempt to modify the stock one by doing some aluminum welding, not sure if that gonna go well. there are a couple of hoods that will get closer to fitting, but require some modification, and then there is the tech2 hood that bolts right on. not my favorite, and it cost $1000, so im not very excited about that. in short, i currently have no plan for the hood, ill cross that bridge when i get there. :)

MK3Brent 01-07-11 10:04 AM

That's what I'm planning too.

I'm going to take the stock hood and massage it, or get it modified.
I'll let you know if I get it done before you do.

get this bastard child finished

Nice work for sure! You certainly aren't afraid to bust out the welder and cut off stock parts to fabricate new ones. Rear flares came out nice.

I'm curious what it will weigh when you complete it. If you can get it corner weighted I would be very curious to see the results.

How much is it to get the head ported/larger valves/rebuilt?

What are the weak links in the Getrag transmission?

thanksfor the kind words. i agree with the welder comment, sometimes i get carried away or side tracked trying to come up with cool stuff. but so far so good.

the weight is something im very interested in as well. i will def keep everyone posted on that.

for all the head work it cost me about 700, that wasnt including parts. springs were about 250 and valves were about 300ish.

as for the getrag trans there are no weak points. it has been know to handle 1200 hp i believe. im using a built r154, should be good for 800hp. i didnt feel the need to drop 3-4k on the getrag. very expensive transmissions.

Nice VSXX's..

First thing I do to my FD once it's 100% done is rims.

Looking good though, man.

FMIC setup looks great.

What are you doing about your wheel fitment though? Ur wheels are stickin' out quite a bit. Feed or Burnout fenders?

thanks first off, i havent had much time lately to work on her. As for the widebody if you check out the first page of the build towards the bottom it has the custome widebody i built. the last 2 pics there were old just liked the way they looked.

The camera or whatever you are using is having problems adjusting white balance. When shooting outside, WB can be left on flash, so no worries once you are snapping indoors.

How much was the machine shop?

If you dont mind can you break it down between cleaning, honing, boring, camshaft polishing, grinding, assembly etc. What engine management are you using?

I always thought radiator overflow, or coolant reservoir, should have another fitting if it fills up completely worst case scenario.

psiturbo 08-27-11 10:08 PM

fuel management? Anyone?

SuspectRx7 09-01-11 10:25 PM

i have everything to setup ac still in the car, just have to run custom lines, if i get to it. its stupid hot here in south florida, so i will probably end up doing it.

I know this is a pain, but is there any way you could accurately measure the clearance between the steering rack and the oil pan for me? Also, are there any other measurements that you feel would aid me in locating the motor in my engine bay?

I've got a Tech2 kit minus the motor-mount brackets. I need to make a set of mount brackets but I need some measurement to set the motor in place first. I do have the trans mount to bolt up, so fore/aft location is covered. I need to fine tune the left/right placement as well as the height.

EDIT: Also, can you confirm that both the left and right bracket are identical?

protunedperformance 09-14-11 04:47 PM

i would say with the mounts tech 2 has there is maybe a couple mm of clearance. just hang the engine off your hoist as close to the rack as ur comfortable with, hook up the tranny mount and just draw up some brackets to fill the gap. fairly simple. haha

Another awesome 2jz rx7 build thread, surprised by how many people don't use the tech2 kit, love the custom fab'd stuff!

Hey gents. Update time... Life happened (damn) I had to move and the car sat for a while, had some money issues and she sat some more. People started asking "hey do you still have that car u were working on" I could only respond with of course I do, I could never get rid of that beauty. I have been working on little things here and there when I got a chance but nothing major, So now its time to get back to work for real. Oh and sorry to the car gods for the delay.
