I like the rear-end work. I did something similar, a few years ago, to my old FC, but it was a 2.5", sheetmetal widebody.
295s went under it NIIIIIIIIIIIICE. What've you got on the rear? |

Very nice indeed. What are you goiong to do about steering setup? Keeping power or going manual?
Jose |
im planning on running power steering, i figured with the extra weight of the 2jz i didn't want to risk crappy steering. but i don't have anything to back it up, this is just a theory.

Are you going to switch the rear end with anything? Im doing the swap myself as soon as i get done with my deployment. Im going 1JZ tho..... its gonna be my first engine swap and i think im gonna follow some of your tips there :D
|
Looks great so far!
I'm thinking of doing a 2jz swap but I also like the idea of a RB26 swap. I think I may do the RB26 to have something that a lot less people have. Of course that would mean making my engine mounts unless I find someone that has it and get some blueprints of them... Edit: I think I actually may do a 2jz swap instead because it's probably going to be easier on my wallet. |

Edit: I think I actually may do a 2jz swap instead because it's probably going to be easier on my wallet. i really like the idea of rb25 or rb26. it allows you to keep the stock hood. with the current prices of jdm import engines it should cost ya about 1000 more for an rb26 then a 2jz. i would not let that hold you back, this is a very expensive swap, build it the way you want it. i would say i have roughly 15-20k invested in my project. that doesnt include the price of the car ($5500). dont build something and then regret you didnt build it the exact way you wanted it. i have been putting this together for almost 3 years. if i want something and cant afford it, i just wait a couple months till i can. on a side note custom fabrication on engine mounts and small stuff really isnt that expensive. find a custom welding shop or a buddy b ,that knows how to weld, im sure they could get it done for under a hundred bucks. good luck with everything. |
That's the thing, my budget is kind of tight since I'm at Uni right now and working part time. I think I should go with the 2jz gte though. Love it's sound. Due to my tight budget it's a "long term project car". Going bit by bit, paycheck by paycheck.
