added some more pipe to the turbo to keep the silicone coupler away from the heat of the exhaust manifold.

seems to be about 5 inches.

plus, thanks for all the nice comments, i do put a lotta work in, but its a very casual pace. i like to keep my build enjoyable and not rush things just to get it done and on the road.

ballinnmiami240sx 11-26-10 10:13 AM

thank you for the pics. I really want a 2j in my fd but dont want to mod the subframe

MR_Rick 11-26-10 10:24 AM

You don't have to mod the subframe, you just replace it with the one for the 2JZ.

ballinnmiami240sx 11-26-10 10:58 AM

Well according the the race rules i want to enter I cannot mod the subframe and it must remain OEM stock. Im about to rebuild my engine for the 4th time and its getting a little old. I have a 2jz and a sr20det in my garage. Im about to pull my motor out today and take some measurements.

Do want

protunedperformance 11-28-10 12:01 AM

NeverDieEasy or anybody. how do i go about finding and setting up a cobra rear end? or any good irs would do. anybody have any info? i have searched a lot and just cant find much good info on here?

KKMpunkrock2011 11-28-10 08:41 PM

a lot of the info for the cobra rear end swap is on the site for people that have swapped their cars. Someone made a custom carrier for it. I know there are a few people on here who have done it as well.

What'd you end up doing for your drive-shaft?

I had a local shop basically order the Mazda LSD side and the Toyota/Lexus R154 tranny side, and then they basically put it together, etc. Came out GREAT! Cost me about $350 + shipping. I think it's...41 inches exactly, IIRC.

i had tech2 make me an aluminum one. looks great, hopefully it holds up. i dont think it will be a problem though. like iv said before im more worried about the rear end snapping.

Do you have anything for a diff mount/support/brace?

We chopped up my PPF and made one:

I absolutely hate the way Mazda designed the diff in the FD's... -_-;;

Looks like you're getting close to having the car done. The progress is looking great.

Haha, I know what you mean about the little stuff. It's coming along...slowly. I have a lot of parts coming in this week so there should finally be some good progress to post! I'm hoping to have it running around New Years.

then the rest of the exhaust i made out of aluminum, getting a little better at welding. it weighs nothing, pretty sweet.

4inch? no resonators or anyhting???

Black Magic 12-23-10 06:35 AM

MAD PROPS on the custom sheet metal rear fender flares! I was seriously waiting from some gaudy fiberglass flares/widebody to be molded on and ruin the entire build! :)

I cant wait to see her finished!

thanks. i had the same thought process you did. the last thing i wanted to do is ruin this entire build with an awful fiberglass wide body kit. so i took the time and did it right. besides all the wide rears are terrible except for a couple. but i wanted it to be part of the body so it didnt crack if i raced it or even leaned up against it. haha.
