You can probably build three 400hp 13b's for the amount of money you're about to spend... Good luck though...

If you are going to bastardize the car, use a 2jz or an LS1 swap atleast. 4G63 is about the only engine swap you could perform to obtain less reliability

Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But a4g64 is easier, and you wouldnt be the first, but then again, you will have a roadmap of how to do it
http://www.nyce1s.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1972
Nuff said, if this is what you have in your vision, and have the funds/ability to do so....get to wrenchin'

The only thing is I would go with smaller turbo, and tII tranny

I don't see the problem, the 4g63 has been in production for decades and is proven bullet-proof. I can say that I dont like to work with the particular timing belt tensioners that Mitsubishi uses.

But most reliability issues with DsMs and Evos stem from the drivetrains, in this case you would likely use the rx7 tranny.

I have thought about this swap myself, Dsms have a huge following so technical info and aftermarket support should be widely available.

There's a certain block you can use; believe it's the 4G64 that's essentially a wide-block 4g63 that'll bolt up to a 2nd gen TII transmission (requires a B2600 bellhousing). Comes out of a good list of cars... A lot carries over; There you have a RWD setup. The rest you'd need is the standard swap things fabricated. Custom engine/tranny mounts, drive shaft, something to control the fuel, exhaust etc. and you're ready to roll.

Save and buy a 4B11-T (EVO X, Genesis engine) from a Hyundai Genesis 2.0L Turbo. It will be much cheaper and better.

Swap that at least, the 4B11T has only been out and already people are saying it has everything (if not a little better in some areas) that people want in a high performance turbo engine.

I am sure a 6 spd + motor should not be that expensive (no JDM tax).

The fd in the link I posted first run down the track was a 12 second timeslip....not that great till you factor in the 150+ trap speed, and the fact he had problems getting off the line.
Youtube has that car running 9's , and my bud told me they are in the 8's now.
4b11-t will have no fair priced support, until the end of the 3rd quarter 2010.
The 4gs catch alot of slack for being tempermental, but they are still easier than 13b to tune. You just have to be smart in your choices, and tunes. Same as all motors. Ive built alot of the dsm motors, and only had problems with them when I "got greedy." But it boils down to whatever you want to build. **** I have a magazine with a pristine 67 camaro with a 2jz in int!
I even have one friend contemplating Q45 v8 in his fd as we speak. He already has one in his 240sx, loves the hell out of it.

What does your prior ownership of one 4G powered car, and a mountain of oil burning turds, have to do with this thread?

I have never been a fan of putting anything other than a rotary into a originally rotary powered vehicle. but i have to admit this one is a pretty cool idea! props to you man! I have a friend here in oklahoma with a 600whp daily driven evo8 that runs on e85 he has the gm flex fuel badge on it. you should get one if you go the ethanol route. good luck man!

mustangs have crank walked since the late 60's. just because a lot of dsm owners don't know how to tune or what the limits of theoir motor is its more publisized. (no i can't spell)

so anyways u are trading one engine that finicky for another one.,.. just make sure u tune and build properly and rock it hard. im considering swapping a 4g64 in my 240sx

Youtube "FDSM"

9 second car. Makes almost 1000whp and about 650wtq

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQFcbJm_z-g

If you want your motor to redline like a rotary, just destroke a 4g64 using 4g63 parts.

My first car i tweaked on was a dsm. 420a turbo craptastic fail but through that car, i learned ALOT about dsm's and the 4g series motors.

again, 6 bolts and 4g64 motors dont crank walk. So sick of hearing about that **** and having to state this OVER and OVER again.

A 420a is about as far from a true 4G63 DSM as you can get..

Thats a neon motor.
