DAMN man...you Nissan guys love that damn SR boy...lol. Like I said, I haven't seen one put down serious power with out breaking. I'm not saying they're not out there, hell anything will be MORE reliable if you spend MORE money. And dude, if you calling the VQ and the VG suck motors we cant talk man. Go do your homework on those motors man. the VQ has a good head design that is great for boost, sleeve the bitch, pistons and rods and you ready to rock. The VG is another good one, its the iron block boost hungry daddy of the VQ, too bad the car it came in sucked. The VG in the 300zx suffered from good motor bad car syndrome, just like DSM's. The FD and FC is the opposite though, good car bad motor syndrome...lol. (Okay, now I'm gonna get hate mail form the rotary heads)

I went 11.6@128 on street tires, 16psi, on the twins. That was likely the first, and last time, it went smoothly into second gear. It never shifted well after that. I got a lot of street time in- slow shifting 3-4-5 pulls, 40 rolls, ect.

The motor and trans have been sold, so I am looking to go with a 2.0 and t56. 230mph , 150+ traps, all in street trim we come.

Just as an update- the drivetrain was pulled and sold. Its getting a stock 2.0+D50 truck trans for nest season. Easy, simple. 550ish whp fortnest season so I can concentrate on my Texas Mile project. I may notch the firewall to get the motor back so I could be near 50/50

Cmon i own a stockish 1st gen 4g63 turbo engine and i have had no problems with it so far. I hate it when people go about saying that their car is the most reliable engine out there. The only reason that an engine or a car for that matter is reliable is the fact that one has enough sense to take care of things he has. Now granted some vehicles are higher maintenance than others but that does not mean that a 4g63t engine is unreliable. take care of it, treat it with respect, and it will do wonders. Now has ANYONE actually ever done a 4g63t swap into a 2nd gen rx7, if so please say YES, and say what you did, not giving crap about your opinion that only carries the forum a little farther into obscurity.

Yes it has been done. I saw a black 2nd gen at the dsm shootout last year. I wish I could give you more info. I know he fabbed most everything up himself. I saw his mounts and they were scaring looking. You will probably find more info on dsmtuners.com than on here. Also, just in case you didn't know, some Mazda bellhousings will bolt up to a 4g64 block.

On a side note, it's good to see MAPerformance on here. I clicked on the thread to add a link to your site. You guys had the best 12 second pass at 150+ I have ever seen.

I believe they are sponsered by Jay's Racing, and he sells a kit.

If your leaving the Trans int he stock location you need a LOT more room than that! You need to fab an oil pan, AND new oil pick up. There is no other way to do it unless you hack the cross member AND drop the steering rack.

Just wanted to chime in on this thread again.
Ive owned 3 DSM's and had some FC's in the past. The 4g63 is a badass engine completely stock. 500HP and 30PSI on a stock block and head. Ok, ok, 400HP and 25psi RELIABLY on a stock block. The stock crank is rated well over that. If you want a fast car a 1st gen AWD is where its at, and the stock tranny doesnt break until you get up to around 500lbs of torque (which isnt even possible unless you are on a stroker 2.3 kit around 600HP). The last AWD talon I had was a 90, and it ran a 13.8 with just the boost turned up to 15psi (10psi is stock and 15psi is what the stock fuel system can take).

All in all, I hate to see people bashing the 4g63 when they dont know anything about them. Its all the people who think they can just slap a badass engine together in a weekend that break **** and give them a bad name. I just sold my 2 talons and got a BMW. When I go back to fast cars itll be another 1st gen AWD DSM, you just cant beat the power dollar for dollar on any other car.
