My rear rotor just went bad so I'm thinking of an engine swap myself, or a port.. this build looks good..

please do... just imagine have reliable 500whp for years and years.. just change oil and pump gas in it.. oh and also getting 20mpgs easy.. with tons of torque. LAST having a sound come out of the exhaust that fits the car..the ls1 is sick..but with a 2j, most people would never know you have a swapped car, since it sounds like a typical "import sound".

BStallion 03-17-11 09:44 AM

Did you think about using the swap kit from 2jz.com or just decided to custom fab everything.. I might go with the kit, from the looks it has everything, even the wiring is plug and play..

my entire swap is from shifted performance... wiring, mounts, subframe, power coating, PS, gauges, radiator kit, intercooler kit. its all shifted performance by Tony M. in New Jersey. i'll Pm you more info.

F*#K other 2jz swap stuff man.. tony is the only one incorporating stock hood, stock steering, and plug and play.

BoostedFd3s 03-17-11 10:59 PM

nice!! always wanted to do this swap...roughly...how much was the total cost?? pm me if you prefer...

mopar97 03-17-11 11:40 PM

PM sent. and btw since you are so close you for sure need to see this car so you can vouch for it to the community!

Looks good, I would really like to see pics of the subframe. Real curiouse on how they got it in there with having good ground clearance and hood clearance.

Look at the valve cover in the rear of the bay to top edge of the engine bay.
Take that difference and subtract it from the steering rack's stock location.

That's how it's done.

2J with the stock location rack: (Car lowered 1.50")

The subframe will be similar to this:

i know all of you have seen the under hood pics, but here is a setup of my gauges..tony did an exceptional job on this..i was honestly amazed how stock and factory this looks...

i went from this..stock gauge cluster that couldn't use the factory oil pressure or water temperature gauge..to this..

False, my car retains the factory hood, factory steering, and is as "plug and play" as any other kit.

You do realize you could have used the factory oil pressure and water temp gauges quite easily, just by using the mazda senders, right? Those are actually the simplest part of the wiring by far.

I think we would all like to see the subframe pics as well, so we can truly judge the quality of it. Everyone else has shown there versions, curious why no pictures of Tony's have been shown yet. I'm sure there must be a few floating around...

mopar97 03-26-11 03:53 PM

the stock water temp gauge is a joke on the FD... after all the money i've put into this car, im not going to take a bet on hoping the stock 18 year old gauge is accurate. as well as oil pressure... H and C or L and H doesn't cut it for me. for safety the new digital gauges were more than worth it.

i have TONS of pics of the sub-frame but im not going to post any. its not my design or product, so i'll let tony do that when he is ready. but the car should be 100% driving and back home in april. we'll see how the 10 hour test drive works.

and btw GX.. if you still "might" be interested in the RHD interior parts i'll cut you a better deal than i mentioned before ;) thank about it!!

Don't get me wrong, I agree completely about the accuracy of the stock gauges, but they do "work" i.e. they can be used with the swap. Just wanted that clarified.

For the subframe, why be shy about posting pics. If you are the customer, and are paying for the parts, you have every right to post pictures of your own car. As far as design, there's no magic for putting that motor in these cars. Thanks for the offer, but all of my RHD parts are actually in great shape.

tearg 03-26-11 06:22 PM

When are these sub-frame kits available to the general public. I'm trying to hold out from buying a Tech2 kit(I want to use my stock hood)

Toyotarx7 03-26-11 08:22 PM

hey tearg

shoot me a PM. not really allowed to talk about it
until I become a vendor. it may be considered as advertising

GoodfellaFD3S 03-26-11 10:05 PM

Odd, kinda seems like you're operating as a vendor already...... with pissed off customers to boot:

MK3Brent 03-26-11 10:13 PM

You know I wasn't going to say anything about that subframe...

I thought you were just tacking the ends and then have it professionally welded...
But I can't let you give Joey that subframe on a good conscious.

The "welds" slag are still noticeable.
You didn't do anything more than paint it, Tony.
