Question 1st gen S5 NA 13B swap?

Or acctually any 2nd generation motor for that matter, but I am wondering who has a 1st generation and has put a 13B NA/turbo in it. And did you have to make new tranny/motor mounts, or are they the same?

That is pretty much my main concern, because would like this to go pretty fast.

you have to either make new mounts or modify the stock T2 mount by welding ears on it and drilling the holes in the correct spot.

The T2 tranny will require you to notch the trans tunnel to make room for the shifter. It moves the shifter back a few inches. and you will probably have to cut your center console a little too.

You can also use the stock tranny if you don't go turbo. But if you use the turbo motor you will have to use a N/A flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate.

I'm using a turbo motor with N/A rotors. I'm usesing the stock Trans for now and if I decide to to go turbo later I will replace the trans with a T2 one.

There is tons of info on this in the 1st gen section. As well as several websites dedicated to this swap.

The options are limitless, so you should do lots of research before getting started.

Good luck,
MIke

Most of the questions are answered in one of the sticky threads in the 1st Gen Section.

Swap the front cover for a 1st gen one (12A or 13B) and use oil-pan from 1st gen 13B. With those parts it's a bolt-in. At least for the mounting..
