hmmm no idea man lol

> Just expect Jesus to contact you at some point to pick your brain for a similar project on my FC.

lol.

I wrapped the ypipe and the complete downpipe today.
WOW, much lower temps under the hood, better response and more power. It also quieted it down a lot. I guess I really was hearing the exhaust noise through the thin metal pipes. I can't even feel it pulling timing anymore, intake air temps must be way down. I highly recommend wrapping it! On a side note, breaking in the wrap was fun. Smoke everywhere at a few stoplights, people looking really confused :P |
Do you happen to have any wiring reference material you'd be willing to share? I'll be taking on this swap soon and am not interested in paying someone else to get r' done. Pm me!
|
for the y pipe and the entire down pipe it took about 70-80 feet of 2 inch wrap! expensive but worth it IMO
I'll be re dynoing once i finish the rest of the exhaust. still have the stupid restrictive stock rx7 exhaust. I'm going to make a custom catback from scratch for under $100. Going to run 3 inch pipes for the exhaust (dual) and open up the stock mufflers and mod them to flow better. It will look stock, but be FAR from it :) |
I just modded the stock mufflers, nice increase in power, not too much more sound. 1st gear is almost useless even with the LSD hehe
|
Are you running the stock TII fuel pump? I'm curious how the stock fc fuel system reacts to the 1jz.
|
stock pump, AFR gauge says no problems. we'll see what it's limits are then swap it out for a walbro probably.
300whp on a piston motor takes less fuel than a rotary :D |
NEW VIDEO:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IOYELFibBI hard to tell by the video but it's loads faster than it was in the last video. Speedo lags like crazy. I finished a 3 inch cat back with the modded stock mufflers. It's still very quiet... guessing about 250-270whp with this set up |
Dynoed again today.
Exhaust mods alone it made 250-260whp, 266 ftlbs! Thats up about 25-30 from stock exhaust :D Then I turned up the boost a little :D 13.5 psi peak dropping to 11 by redline = 268whp 14.5 is peal dropping to 12.5 by redline = 280-285 whp, 277ftlbs Car is starting to haul ass now :) Might switch to a better cat back, I know it's holding the power back. It's still very quiet actually. Overall very happy. :D |
sweet project man! Where did you buy your engine from??
|
|
Hey how did you wired the check engine light?
|
Nice, Ive loved mine since 2002 ;) I was able to get 296rwhp on stock boost. I lived in sac for like 5 years, you may have seen my car.

got the power steering line made locally for 48 bucks. Looks great and it's rated at 4000 psi! lol i'll try it out when the engine cools down :D I have 2 threaded lines coming from my rx7 steering rack, but the 2jz p/s pump only has a spot for one outlet the main pressure source? so what did you do with the small threaded hose when you got your hoses made up? cheers daniel |

p/s
oh righto so its just an excess return line or something is it?
has anyone gone over the 500hp mark with a single turbs yet on here with their fc? just wonderin how everything in the driveline holds up with the torque figures involved if anything broke? |
lets see pictures. must have moved the files?

Wow, I hope you didn't sell this thing for only $1050... Nice project either way.
|
Well Gents it's alive! Finally.

1st start up!
After we quickly realized it was a reverse flow fpr, it fired right up.

Okay I'm gonna take the hit and make my first move on this forum to bump an old thread :)
This is rich info right here. I've honestly been thinking of doing this swap since I got my license and now I finally have the means to do it! I've been driving around a 2000 Civic EX (decent ride, at least I bought it myself) which I like, but the performance is very lackluster and all my friends have RWD cars haha. Not that I'm jumping on any bandwagon, but it would be cool if I could actually hang with them for a day at the track. It's something else to bond over. If nothing else, I'll save this thread for later in case I can't find it again. Thanks for all the info OP, and anyone else who chimed in! |
Okay so this might be a stupid question, but which car did the mid-sump 1JZ come in? According to tech2, the kit only works with the mid sump engine from a Supra. But according my my research, the 1JZ that came in the JZA70 supra was rear sump? Shouldn't the rear sump engine still work? Thanks in advance...
EDIT: So apparently they come on a crown, which is a super rare car and I doubt I can find an oil pan from one of those here in the US. I will probably have to go to the ends of the earth just to find one. So I guess my real question is, what did you guys do with your sumps? did you just modify the rear sump? |
Rear sump is what works.
|
Rear sump and mid sup means the same thing.... I'll start a thread soon for my 1jz swap!
|
wow that's a relief lol. Seems pretty straight forward. Thanks for the replies

I bought this a few months ago and looked like this.
Attachment 710150 now looks like this. Attachment 710151 I'm going to make a build thread for it soon. |

I was going to make another build thread but decided to continue this one since it has alot of good info(I hope you don't mid sketchhs)
when I first got the fc it needed some love because it had been sitting for almost a year due to the fact that the previous owner had a hard time trying to register it in Hawaii, and also needed a new clutch. From what he said he just didn't have the time or money for it being a college studen't and all so I gladly took it off his hands. couple more pics of when i first got it Attachment 710152 Attachment 710153 I took it home and got it back up to par. first was the clutch, I went with a spec 6 puck. Then did all the fluids and put on some new wheels and tires, the stock one where worn out. Attachment 710154 |

The next thing I changed was the blown stock suspension, I decided to go with powered by max fender roller and coilovers.

I did not like the giant hole in the hood at all, so i tried looking for the re-amemiya reverse hood scoop with no luck, the hood also had a nasty dent in it from some one backing into it.
Attachment 710160 Attachment 710161 next project was mount up my re bumper and lights oh and also picked up a new front mount. http://www.re-amemiya.co.jp/commodit...de55f&scd=5153 Attachment 710162 |

I've since done a 1jz in a 280z, and a 2jz in a 260z. Working on a 1uz in a 240z next.... yes lots of datsuns! Another v6 mk2 mr2. Got a v6 mk1 mr2 coming up soon. Working on a turbo project on my miata.... And I just bought a house! Jesus I'm busy. I also put a holset he351ve (vgt turbo) on my supra with great success. |
