1jz-gte?

i'm at a cross road..

I own 3 Rx7's.. 2 FC's and 1 FD.. so i wont exactly be "losing the rotary spirit"

my S4 TurboII motor has taken a **** on me..

low compression on all 6 chambers.. basically it's old and worn out and needs a rebuild..

the cost of the rebuild (parts) will be approx the same price as a JDM MK3 front clip...

how "welcome" would a 1J be in a Turbo II?

here's the mods on the TII at the moment:

GReddy TD06-H Turbo
HKS extWG, manifold
Corksport Exh.
Knight Sports Elec Boost Controller
S-AFC II
Walbro 255 pump
Greddy 720CC secondary inj.
Rtek 1.7
Greddy FMIC
Tein Super Street coilovers
Racing Beat Alum Flywheel
Crane Cams CDI
Short Shifter
Blitz FATT
Front/Rear Strut bars
weight reduction

the intake and the exhaust are on the same sides on the 1J as the 13B

so i can re-use my FMIC, CS exhaust and stuff

the only stuff I can't really use will be the Rtek, hks manifold, FW and the shifter

will i have clearance issues? with the hood closing, the tranny tunnel etc? room in front of the motor for the Rad and fan etc etc..

what's ur guys opinions?

it's hard to get a USDM spec 2J

only the JDM 2J's are available readily

the JDM version has 40 hp less.... smaller cams, smaller injectors, smaller cermaic turbo's. Map sensor instead of MAF etc etc..

1J revs more freely as well... (redline of 8,500 vs 7,500)

not trying to **** in your cheerios but why exactly do you want to go with that route? Youd need to modify your subframe or buy one of grants (if it is the right dimensions) and ultimately youre left with a fast-spinning 2.5 liter engine thats physically rather large being a straight 6 and DOHC, mostly in length and height.

If youre just a fan of the engine, by all means go for it :P but Im saying there are more cost effecitve options out there. Grant has a VG30 kit for the FC, and domestic v6s are even cheaper and can be set up for boost, same for v8s. Only catch is if you used a 302 youd break the block once you got over 550 whp or so.

Are you on a work computer that is stuck on capslock key?

I have absolutely no problems with a 1JZ swap in an Rx-7. Just wish you would use lower case for the majority of your posts, as it makes it appear like you are yelling in every post.
