wich 13b housing do i have and where and what can i use

Hi guys i have one very good housing and i need another one but its not the same as the others ones ive got so i dont know what housing to get ore if it really matters as long as i port the exhaust and change the sleeves.
its the one without the sparkplug in it thats not like the others

i was also wondering if anyone could confirm that i could just buy new gls-se housings instead..

Best regards Rasmus Andersen

I see there is a semi-circle of aluminum on one of the housings around the spark plug holes. This indicates the housing was used with electronic ignition. The spark plugs are longer with BR8EQ-14 as the number to look for. If electronic ignition, possibly a 1980 version with a thermal reactor but it might have had an exhaust manifold and a cat instead. I've seen both versions.

Your other housing is older most likely by only one year, like a 1979, with points ignition and a BR7ET spark plug or similar. Three ground electrodes, not four. Most likely as thermal reactor.

Of course the plugs can be swapped at any time.

In your picture of the exhaust port, I see an emissions tube sticking up. This was an early form of ACV which piped some exhaust into the intermediate plate and up into the intake manifold. A valve in the ACV would open and close for fresh air depending on conditions.

Conclusion, your housing came from an engine that had nitrided side plates, a high volume oil pump, full-flow oil squirters in the shaft, a cat, a 1980 style electrnic ignition, and lastly it had R5 emblazoned in raised letters on the front and rear irons with 17 tension bolts and a curved rib up at the oil filter pedestal. Oh and no drilled and threaded hole for oil pressure. You will need to drill it yourself. Should be easy with the engine apart.

I've rebuilt several of these 17 tension bolt R5 engines, both 12A and 13B. Probably my most favorite rotary engine, ever.

do i see R5 on that center housing? being as they're 13b housings, my guess is the one with the raised bosses at the plug holes may be from an SE. intake side should show threaded hole where the omp fitting goes. the other one, if that is R5 on the iron attached to it, is 76 on as the earlier had large framed mazda script.
