I think that the 787b is headed to Road Atlanta. Is that right? Well, one of those southern state road courses. I don't have the copy of Vintage Motorsports in front of me right now, but they were talking about a vintage Japanese car race going on down there with Mazda being the featured marque. Maybe you can get more info on the Vintage Motorsports forum at GRmotorsports.com.

Well, the RENOWN 787B is the one you're thinking of, but there was another that finished 3rd that year. There's also a couple of 767 and 787 cars out there (or there were, at least) that would be a hell of a lot of fun to own The CHARGE 787B is a clone of the RENOWN car. I'd like to know where those cars are, as they'd be tons cheaper and every bit as fun. Besides, I absolutely couldn't thrash the RENOWN car for the sake of putting it in the wall.

yeah, to the best of my knowlage, the renown 787 is no longer raced AT ALL. it is simply shipped around the world for events. last I heard it was headed back to Japan. (this was a while ago though.... accually this was after 7 stock 7 it was headed back to Japan. I suppose it could be someplace else by now.)

I dont think ANYONE but Mazda would ever own this car, but I am sure some of the sister cars are/will be for sell. I dont know about you, but I wouldnt mind owning one of the sister cars! damn that would be fun on a track!

Last I heard, the Renown 787(the one everyone loves) is back in Japan, and has ended its touring days.Apparantly, there is a lot of logistics involved with shipping it around, firing it up and so on.Something like a 10 man crew is required to make it all happen. They just dont wanna invest that kind of money/work into a car that hasent raced in so long.
That doesnt mean that its museum bound for the rest of its life, they may decide to revive it someday, but for now, from what I heard before SS8 happened, they have no immediate plans to move it around.
