Today I picked up a non running Suzuki RE5. As of tonight it is running and I took video of my roommate kick starting it.

Amazingly I found it here in Phoenix. Picked it up in the REPU, about 30 miles across town.
It was caked with dirt and just looked sad, started off by just cleaning the whole thing up. It doesnt look new but it looks pretty nice! Only has 8200 miles and is complete except a couple missing screws on the exhaust heat shields.
Pulled off the carb and cleaned it out. There was alot of junk in there. The cooling system was also in need of help. The radiator hoses were ok but there was one hose I had to make a new one by cutting up something from Checker. The cooling system was gunked up really bad with deposits. Will have to drain it again soon to make sure there is no more.
Replaced engine oil and transmission oil. That was a nasty job, 22 years is not easy on oil.
Paid $1500, which is probably fair price for a non-running one. Now that it runs though I could get $3k or more.
About all thats left is to replace the front brake assembly. There is no saving whats on there, lines are completely blocked, master cylinder is dead. The disks are good, but I cant say for sure about the calipers.
If you want one keep looking on ebay and craigslist. They come up quite often, but running examples are not cheap.
