Twin Dizzee Help

Hey Guys!

Got a problem.Need help.Decided to change the wires on my 73 RX2 Twin Dizzee.Upgraded to Accel wires.Changed them.Cleaned the plugs.Lightly sanded the points & now the car will not start.Called one of my buddies he said because i sanded the points i probably screwed up the gap in the points.I reset the points Gap to .0.045mm.The car still will not start. At one point it started for a couple secs but the Tach didn't work & it ran rough & then shut off.Any Suggestions other than change the front cover to a Single dizzy.I want to keep it all original.HELP!

Might be a silly question, have you removed the plugs and checked for spark?
New points are not that hard to come by. Other than that, if the points are installed properly, trailing wires are on trailing plugs, leading wires are on leading plugs, (rotors are installed?) you should have spark. If not, ive got twin dizzy points

Yea I did check for spark.Could not get the Trailing or leading wire to spark.Very Baffling.Trying to locate a new set of points & see if that works.

lets try .016 to .018 th and not mm. if .045th is what you ment it sounds more like a plug gap. .016 to .018 has worked well on any car ever made since cars began

Hey Gambone!

The 0.045 is mm point Gap.The Conversion in inches is .016-.018.The Points were Gapped right.I am picking up new points today hopefully that will solve the problem.I just don't understand how the car goes from Running really good.I change the plugs(Do they need to be gapped? I know the book says to gap the plugs but I thought they were gapped already when you buy them)I put brand new 18mm Accel Wires & sand the Points without adjusting the gap and the Car won't start at all?Actually when I 1st changed the wires & sanded the ponts I only took out the plugs & cleaned them & re-installed them.Yesterday I put New plugs in but did not gap them figurthere new should be gapped already no? Also, just ordered a set of original Nippondenso Plugs which only have Two Prongs. The NGK replacements that were in the motor had 3 Prongs.

If it wasn't for the fact that I want to keep this car 100% Original to enter into Shows I would Change the front cover toa single elec Dizzee.

Got another problem

Got another Question/Problem? Replaced All Wires,Plugs,Points,Cap & Rotor.Car is still running a little Rough It Bucks when comin off gas in gear.I did not Gap the NGK Plugs when I installed them.Could that be the problem? No loose Vacuum Hoses anywhwere.Do Plugs need to be Gapped before installation or do they come Pre-Gapped?Next thing I'm gonna do is purchase a timing Light & check the timing.Any Takers?

All the plugs come pre set for rotarys, that is if they are the rite ones. Almost sounds like cab work time

Sounding like your timing is to retarded causing unburnt gas to collect in the exhuast after shutdown. Or your just running way to rich at idle.

Glad you got it running though.

I think that it may be running to rich @ Idle. Now I have to figure out which way to turn the gas/air mix screw.
