Tranny in an Rx3

I just picked up an Rx3 formy kid and we are planning on putting a spare gsl-se tranny into it. I know that the shifter is located further back, but will it still fit through the stock shifter hole?

The other option is an 79-80 tranny, it will right in, correct?

don't know

i put an 84 tranny in my RX-2 and I had to cut a new hole about 4" further back for the shifter. I hear you can modify the shifter part and move it further forward, but I don't know how or what you'd actually do.

Of course, I had to move my entire console back 4" in order for the shifter to come through the right spot, and I had to notch it so the e-brake would go all the way down.

I'm not sure what the console is like on an RX-3 . . . you may have to change some stuff. The bottom line is that you can make it work, you may just have to get creative . . .

yes, as he said, you will need to cut the shifter hole. if you dont want to do that, then up to 80 isgood and straight bolt in.

yes, the console (arm rest console) will need to move back.

the 79-80 tranny will fit with no problem. u can mod the se tranny a couple different ways to make it fit without cutting the floor, that's what i did to an '83 tranny, i wanted to keep the short shifter, so i shortened everything needed to be shortened to move the shifter forward approx 4".

since it moved 4", you will also need to modify the hand brake...Either mount it sideways (45% away from the shifter hole) OR shorten it.

Ok, I think that I will start looking for a 79-80 Rx7 tranny, just to keep things looking stock.
