Thinking of pulling my 20B out of my TII and sticking it in a Z32 300ZX

My reasoning.

-I have always liked the 300ZX looks.
-FDs cost too much
-I built my TII as a race car when I was younger, now I want something I can enjoy on the road (no 10 point roll cage, no fixed back racing seats, no 5 point harnesses, would be nice to have heat, A/C and cruise control).
-I don't like the 300ZX engines turbo or not.
-I love my 20B.
-The extra mass doesnt really matter to me
-I already have another FC.
-It would be a fun experience to build and a sweet car to drive when it is done.
-I have most of the parts to do it already
-Dimensionally it should fit with some massaging.
-I think it would be the first and only in the world (feel free to let me know if I'm wrong)

Let me know what you guys think about the project.

RX-8

One of the few cars that handles better than the FD in my opinion, quite affordable, easy to find cheap parts, possible to find real race parts for and practical/comfortable.

I have a built 420hp/420tq FC
Sequential FD with Ohlins 18x11/ 295s
4spd auto RX-8 with Ohlins 18x11/ 295s

I'm parting out the FC because the chassis is pathetic and beefing the RX-8 because its *amazing*

I have considered putting a reworked Cosmo auto (same as Pathfinder, Z31 turbo auto) in my auto RX-8 to handle the grunty FC motor because the auto is so easy to drive around and I have learned to race with it.

I hated RX-8 looks when I got it but they are growing on me because I love driving it.

Believe me I considered this. It would be better for having more than one passenger than the 2+2 300zx. The suspension is likely better too. But the looks have not grown on me (even though it is not a bad looking car). Also it doesn't have the same wow factor and uniqueness ( not that it isn't unique or have a big wow factor).

Thanks for the responses even though this is still just half a concept! Maybe a little more than half since I got the wife's blessing.

Z32's are cool !!!! I would do it , thats a great combo , as a matter of fact there was a 350z with a 20b swap in australia a few years ago , not the same car but you get the idea !!!

I saw the video of them doing donuts. Seems pretty nasty.

Hopefully this guy emails me back. Seems like the perfect candidate.

I say do it. considering how much space the VG30 takes up. You are likely to have quite a bit of room. Couldn't hurt to keep the 5 speed from the 300z as those are fairly beefy from what i remember. That would be something different and exciting.

i say go for it. i still think the Z32s are drop-dead gorgeous cars and a marvel of their time. i'm actually a huge fan of the VG30, too, but i think a 20B would make for a suitable replacement, even if only for the WOW-factor.

disliked them when i first saw them, too. i thought they were unworthy and gimmicky. i eventually learned not to look at them as replacing the Rx-7. that was the biggest hurdle. i drove one (actually, my fiance/girlfriend was looking at one) and that pretty much took care of everything else as far as doubts were concerned. i bought one a few months later. i still think they are kinda gimmicky though, but man the feeling ....

Someone beat me to this one. I'll keep my eyes open and post back here once I have something. Could be a while as I'm in Shanghai for a bit...
