sticky old RX3 locks how to repair?

sticky old RX3 locks how to repair?

i have a set of old locks for my rx3, the door locks are ok but the trunk lock is very sticky, key barley fits in.what can I do to get this working again?.


should i soak the lock in solvent?

Pop the cover in back of the lock mechanism. Clean it with brake cleaner, add grease and be sure that the spring is in tack.

the lock dosnt look like it comes apart or opens up its kinda sealed looking

the whole trunk lock comes in 2 pieces (key cylinder and the actual lock mechanism) and are held together by 2 10mm bolts . Forget about taking the cover, just unbolt the mechanism and clean the back end. Be sure to mark it as you would do a hood for easy installation.

Powdered Graphite always freeed up sticky locks for me. I'd try that.
