Mazda just keeps turning out winners. I thought it was a short RX8 first time I saw it, but then it hit me what it was. I have to say, I'm impressed. However, you can see the trendy "let's make the car angular!" thing, it's not a sleek as the FDs are. Still... pretty! What's your opinion?

No, they have. Unless it was a what, a Mazda3 with only 2 seats or something? Maybe a Miata concept based off the RX8? I dunno, but it reminded me heavily of the RX8. Maybe I can find a picture of it somewhere...

If it looks anything like the Rx-8, I think it's gonna stink! They blew it once, I hope they don't do it again.

Yeah, when I first heard the new 7 was based on the 8, I thought the same thing. I think the 8 is nice looking, but it's no RX7.
However, the car I saw, if it is indeed the new RX7 (or maybe just a concept) looked nice. Definite RX8 styling cues, but it was nice looking. There's some drawing of a black one which looks sort of similar to the car I saw, but the one I saw had the scoop thing behind the front wheels like the 8, and maybe a semi-scoop looking thing in front of the back wheels.
I dunno... I could see it as an RX7, whatever it was.

Here's some art, actually fairly close to what I was looking at. The only real difference I see is the spoiler on this picture was absent, and the car overall looked a little wider. Also the big air intake in the front looked sleeker than it does in the picture here. Also the color was more like titanium maybe?
Anyhow, it was cool. I'll do some more research on it.

eww, that rx7 concept car looks like it trying to copy that crossfire or whatever that thing chrysler made. they need to make that mazda 3 wagon, rwd and have a rotary. mazda needs to come back out with rotary sport wagons, It'll never ever happen though.

I gotta say, the Mazda3 is pretty damned cool. Much better than I thought it would be.
On the Crossfire, that thing on the back, the spoiler/wing thing, can be up or down I believe. What's the point of that? The RX7 may be the same way, because the vehicle I saw didn't have anything popped up like that... but that's not to say it didn't have something that was able to pop up.
The back of the car was pretty wide to, like a miniature C5 or C6 Vette. That photo above really doesn't do it justice.
And again, that's just in case the vehicle was the new RX7. I can't confirm it yet.

kinda wierd looking but cool. reminds me of what Nissan
tried a few years back.
------------
An amped version of the Renesis RX-8 engine is likely to power RX-7. With wider and stiffer rotor housings, a higher redline, and displacement out to about 1.6 litres, Mazda reckons on output of around 225 kW in normally aspirated form. It appears there will be no turbocharged version. Fear not, though, as for the first time ever, Mazda is working on a supercharged rotary option for RX-7.
The production car, code-named J77, is likely to be shorter and wider than the RX-8. There may even be a cabriolet variant with a fabric or folding hard-top hood.
----------------------
Wow a cabriolet version, Yeah should have learned there lesson with the FC vert. Maybe a straight Hardtop version would be cool.

why would one chose to supercharge instead of turbo charge? What about centrefugal supercaharge? Would that make any of a diff. on a rotory? <srry for spelling>
Also there is an article in the new Car and Driver. Says that they are looking for around 300 horses two seater.
any one know where i could check out some info on the new supra?

They designed a concept like this back a few years ago (98, 99??), but I never thought it made it past the three or four pictures that circled the 'net back then!
It appears to have been updated... Let me see if I can find that old pic!

yea i read that article. I plan on buying a new car within the next two years. Im going to look at this new 7 if its out buy then, or look at what options the 350Z has, heard they are bringing in a twin turbo. Has any one driven one of those? How does it handle?

I prefere the Z. To me it is more exotic..i mean come on, it has the letter Z! But to each is their own. I will more than likely end up going RX8 though if the RX7 is not brought back. I will just wait for the MazdaSpeed version. I plan to save up for about a year and a half. Soon to start two jobs and will be only going to school part time. Hopefully put around 15k down. But I would really love to see the 7 brought back. That article about the Japan Motor show is waaaay old and Car and Driver and Motor Trend have been having articles like this for awhile, dating back to like 01 i believe. My RX7 just broke down on me today, Vacum leak, so yea. I hope their will be news released soon. I wrote Mazda and they told me that they do not comment on speculation.
