Should I call it quits on RX3 & Get me a 3rd gen ?

Well wife wants me to get rid of my project RX3 that I been putting of for so long . I got my self a RX8 for a daily to drive Round the family well only 2 kids I have 4 lol and I love my 8 , she likes it alot too and now wants me to get a 3rd Gen . She is ok with me getting a shell and doing what I got to do but she can't Stan the rx3 she says it will never look good :-( and she is ok with me spending not a lot but what's necessary to make the 3rd gen look and run mean . What do you guys think honestly look at how I sit with my project :-( ... https://www.rx7club.com/old-school-other-rotary-63/my-rx3-project-733317/

Tough Call, only reason I'd even consider it is because of all the rust work the RX3 needs. Could get the 3 running, enjoy it for a while and then decide.

O trust me Ive looked for a donor shell and people want like 4 grand and up for a decent shell but that is still needs work on less than mine but still have to get work done so I end up spending more and it dont make sense.

yea but I want to Build my RX3 the way I want to mainly original inside and maybe paint job but suspension and engine is going all out buying a clean Rx3 is cool but something you built is something you built , Ive bought complete cars before and nice ones but is not the same when you built it and look at the transformation, Example like my RX8 most people think is a RX8 no is my RX8 i drove 11 hrs for , the one I took engine out, rebuild it painted engine bought upgrades and painted what I wanted etc. It was a awsome feeling when it started , I can only imaginemy RX3 , I think even been out the cart where it sit at and sitting on new suspension and wheels I think that would be an accomplisment,. I love my 3 is hard to even think of letting it go.

Yeah so much better doing it yourself, but then you are stuck years with a non running rx3. You could get one that needs work but runs.. I have driven all stock low mile rx3s and gotta tell you it beats all others!

+1 but dont get a girlfriend.....she will suck up all of your extra money that you can spend on the rx-3.

on a more serious note, don't let your wife influence your hobby. its your hobby and your cars. if you like the rx-3 keep it. if you sell it you will regret it....FD's are dime a dozen..they are everywhere.

i have a REPU and an FD. wife will go no where near the FD but loves the REPU. keep your wife happy by taking her out in the 8...that is my suggestion.

Find yourself an 808 or another RX3 and move the parts over. I'm sure you have basically everything. If I see one up here I will notify you. There were 3 of them for sale in Bethlehem, PA a few weeks ago.

Ive looked at a few shells but problem is cars this year look good when they have all parts in , but when you start taking it apart to fix little rust you've seen it just keeps popping up every where little by little,, And cars ive seen been restore sometimes not sure how bad they been or what kind of work has been perform. To spend in a new shell and still need a lot of work is what im trying to prevent nd 6,500 is not in my budget in one chunk, I know my project will cost me the least almost 10,000+ the way I want it , not bad at all for what all I want, Paint will be the cheapest since my cousin works in a dealer and is the main painter , he hates mechanic work so I work on all his car for free so he will be painting my car for free with free paint that he will mix for me , I will hook him up when he done .. I really don't want to get rid of my 3 . I walked in my garage today since it was raining and was going to cut up an weld up but I need to get it sand blasted and seal before I start on bottom of car,,, Time is whats killing me I need more if it ,,

this is brutal.

if you don't have the spare money then it won't matter what car you get, rust or no, eventually you'll need to fix something on whatever car is in your drive.

lose the 8, buy a 4cyl toyota for your daily and sort out the 3. NEVER sell it. at least one of your kids will be stoked to inherit it.

Too Funny , Is not the spare money I cant dump money on buying another Shell to put money on it and still have work on it and don't complete it,. Having 4 kids and living in Florida is not easy, I used to Live in Chicago and yes you make more money in chicago area but you always working and in winter times you dont have time to do nothing, i used to work too much to live a good life style a few home nice cars projects cars VIP in lots of clubs ,, I gave that up now is family time Now !! So almost every weekend I'm doing family events taking trips and hotels and Parks etc , Kids in sports and they Loving their sports I can't give that up to please me, I'm close to doing something , I can always drop car off to shop and they take 6 months to finish mayor rust but I want to tackle some of it and do it my self. I used to pay in chicago to get stuff done, Now I want to do it my self an enjoy me working on it,
Sorry for the long bla bla but is a bit more information about why Instead of getting Judged.

From a 20 years married guy with 3 kids and a bunch of projects: You will lament the day you got rid of it. My wife does not approve of my project cars(see the sig list), except HER Mustang. When she asks what I'm going to do with them(in that sh*tty tone we've all heard) I tell her that her time is better spent thinking about other things, because the cars are my issue, not hers. She needs to allow you YOUR thing. Sounds like you are providing and sacrificing for the family, and you need your things to enjoy. She needs to understand that. YOU decide if you want to keep or sell it. NOT HER.

If I sound like a dick, so be it. As time goes on, you get tired of having your life completely run by the wife. You're the man. Be one.
