rx8 interior in a rx4..

Hi all,
Has anyone attempted to install a full interior (front and rear seats, door panels, center console) from a RX8 into a RX4 or similar. Just need some advice, warnings, opinions etc.
I have a 1976 rx4 coupe.

Sal

might want to start by taking measurements of both cars, and expect to do a TON of fabrication. RX-8 gauges are probably going to require the RX-8 senders and most likely the ECU too. So it looks like your doing a renesis swap as well Only weird interior swap I've seen is a RHD FD interior swapped into a convertible FC.

Thanks for the reply Static, i actually want to leave the dash alone and maybe install a pop up navi like u see on the rx8's. I just would love to see the rx8 rear seats in the back of the rx4. I think it will look real nice and clean.

OP: dont be an idiot. If you want a RX-8 interior, then buy a ******* RX-8 and sell the RX-4 to someone else who will appreciate an old school.

There is nothing wrong with putting the seats of an rx8 in a rx4. Its just like putting Mazdaspeed seats in an rx3. I saw an rx4 wagon several years ago with rx8 front seats at 7stock. He said they were really easy to instal, basically bolt in.
In regards to the rear seats your on your own. If you find a good interior shop anything is possible. Dont be scared to be different, everything in your car should be done on how you want it to be done. Besides its your creation.
My rx4 has a pair of 2nd Gen seats and have considered switching them to rx8 seats or even back to the old 74 orginal seats. Weighing my options.

Front seat swap is a common upgrade but once you start messing with the stock back seat, center console and such, thats something else.

I think it's a little harsh for you, Wacky, to tell me to get rid of my car and buy an RX8. Settle down a bit, I don't appreciate the profanities when all I am doing is asking for an opinion. I saved this RX4 from the junk, and I plan on doing some nice things to the car which most people have not seen before. I want to improve on the car. I plan on respraying the car, which we not be in the stock color, turbo setup, again not stock. I have grown up on rotaries and kept them fairly stock whilst growing up in Australia, so I want to do some different things with this vehicle.

Dude get off your high horse! Your no better than anyone else on here.

There is a difference between a good opinion and totally bashing him. If you really don't have anything to help him out with his question then you shouldn't be posting.

OP i own a Rx8, and if the Rx4 back seats are anything like the Rx3,2 then i wouldn't bother trying to get them in there. Just re-upholster your stock rear seats to match the rx8s front seats. And anything else will not fit. Rx8 is a wider car so the dash inside is also wider. I have never been in a Rx4 so im not sure about the panels fitting. But i can ****** some pictures for you if you want to compare.

I understand what Wacky is saying, keeping old school cars old school, maybe he did went out of line by calling him an idiot or what not, I wouldn't do a complete interior swap in a Rx4, Rx2 Rx3 , maybe just the front seats, but everyone has there own taste, if he has the funds to pull it off, more power to ya. Just my 2 cents

I'm not in a high horse so get it right. I am bashing him to be exact and since you never owned a RX-4, you dont know what your talking about. As a start, look at how the stock RX-4 and shifter/handbrake console, they were made to have a one-piece look. now, ditch the console and tell me how it will look.

With enough time and money anything can be accomplished. I wouldn't swap the full Rx-8 interior, but bits and pieces along with ALOT of custom work I think it would be a cool look. Guys modernize the interiors of old muscle cars all the time by using parts from newer cars. This wouldn't be any different. Good luck. Someone has to think out of the box.

No one here has the right to tell anyone how to build their cars. If you think you do that's sad. He can do whatever he wants, as long as there is still more people out there still working on this Old Rotaries then that is good enough for me.

And so what if the rx4's console was made like that? If he wants he can change it to the rx8 console. Saying the process is gonna be hard or maybe impossible would of been something better to say than to start calling people Idiots and stupid. Every car was made 1 way, if none of us wanted to change them to our ways no one would be on this forums.

Buggy, I am with you on this. I plan on doing a few interior pieces. Seats will go and center console if we can do it. I will leave the dash and forget the Navi system.

I don't know if you read my post correctly, I'm not telling him how to do his car, or to do it my way, I'm simply stating that I wouldn't do that to my car, and I also stated that "EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN TASTE" , meaning that if he wants to do it and has the funds to do it, more power to him. I suggest you read the posts more carefully before speaking

I was only trying to make a point towards that line. I didn't mean to point fingers at you, just that remark. Some people do have the thought of keeping cars original, but common if there wasn't people out there that did their own style we wouldn't be seeing a lot of this cars.

No problem man! Just hate seeing people try to put others down when they have different styles. As long as your working on the same cars i think its all good!

and this is not the first time when I told someone like you to leave an old school alone comprende????

again, stick the RX-8 front seats in and leave the rest alone. if you want a newer look, then get the "stock" door panels and seats re-done ala "cheech and chong" low rider with a fuzz ball or whatever. in fact, you can make it multi-color.

so whatever you do to your car is your business BUT do it with "pride of ownership" and not some "mickey mouse job." there is a difference between "wow" and "**** yeah"

"Wow" = what the **** did you do this car?
"**** yeah" = good job.

Think outside the box? I've done that many times, in fact, I have done a few that no one has ever done in an old school... you can say I got the ***** and guts to try it but to a point wherein it doesnt ruin the originality.

you dont know what the **** you're talking about. so do your own research or at least take a look on how a RX-4 interior looks like.
