RX5/COSMO gear ratio's

Did a search to no avail, I want to do some number crunching and the only 1 I have is the rear end ratio is 3.65:1. Anyone know what the gear ratio's are in the 5 speed overdrive tranny?

Yes, I do.

Code:
                                    Rear Net Tire RPM @
Year 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Axle Final Tire Size RPM 60 MPH
76 3.683 2.263 1.397 1.000 0.862 3.636 3.134 185/70-14 855 2680
77-78 3.380 2.002 1.390 1.000 0.791 3.636 2.877 185/70-14 855 2460
I'm glad my Cosmo is a '76. It would suck with a '77-'78 tranny like my bro's '78 RX-4 did with the '77-'78 gearing.

Jeff,

I could be wrong (i am away from all of my information at training) but I was pretty sure that there was also an alternate rear gear for 78 automatics, i know that you have the handy little by year guides could you look at that and see please just for verification. i know that I could be wrong

Thanks that is really helpful. I have a second tranny I pulled out of a Cosmo at a wrecker over a decade ago and can't remember which year it came out of. Any way to check on the tranny case to verify which year and thus what ratios?

Dave, I didn't see any other information.

gearhead, look at the vent tube on top of the tranny. '76 has a pipe which curves downward. '77-'78 has a short vent with a cap on top like all 1st gen trannies.
