i've searched only to come up empty handed, lot's of ppl saying it's not worth the effort using the 1st gen 7 rear end, but are there other good way's to mount a 4link in the rear of a early rx3? reason being is that im building a pure drag car on somewhat of a budget and would like to keep it as stock chassis as possible for the time being until improvment's are needed, it's already got some traction bars in the back but if anyone know's what drag racing feels like with leafsprings on top end it can get a lil loose, just looking for some pointers or what not to get it done good and safe, thnx for your help in advance

 

How fast do you plan on running? Up to a certain point you would probably be better off modding the stock setup IMO. After you have reached the limits of that though an aftermarket four link and rearend swap would be in order. There are several ways to go about that but unless you are skilled in fabrication it is best left modding the suspension to the experienced. Thnx 4 the response, well as for how fast, most likely 9's or faster, since I'm going to b runnin a big custom turbo that my tuner had his eye on building also runnin alky as fuel, but thnx 4 the sit ill def check it out an any other pointers u might have will be much appreciated

 

IMO there is no way that a stock RX-3 or RX-7 diff will take that kind of abuse. You will more than likely have to do a diff swap. I would either go with a 8.8 ford, 8.750 chrysler, or a 9" ford.

If you plan on running that kind of times and hp, your only choice is a beefier rearend and the 1st gen is not it for 2 reasons. While the Moser axles that ReSpeed offers may hold up, the diff will not and Mazda diffs are not only stupidly expensive, the gearing choices are limited.

A Ford diff will be your best choice. Check with your sanctioning body as to what type is legal in regards to C-clips. Ford gear sets can be had for 125-150 each, strengthening is extra.
