rx2 twin distributor question/pole for those with rx2's
rx2 twin distributor question for those with rx2's
The first rx2's that i had were all either 72 or 73
and they all had 3 sets of points, two in one dist
and one in the other.
well to my surprise when i went to check the points in
this 71 rx2 it only has two sets.
it has the correct distributors in it and everything else
looks the same other than the charcoal canister is
not in the lid of the air cleaner on this one.
any ideas or comments from other rx2 owners as to what
their cars have?

71's had one set of points for each dizzy and no charcoal canister in the air cleaner. 72/73 had 2 sets in the leading dizzy and 1 in the trailing, plus the charcoal canister. It was to alter the timing slightly when the engine was cold.
My 73 now has a single dizzy with dual ignitor direct fire ignition . . . zooooom.

i'm not sure yet because the engine isn't doing so hot. Not sure if it's just really low compression or a bad vacuum leak that I can't find. The engine seems to the run the same (poorly) with direct fire or conventional ignition.
As soon as I trace down the problem and get things running right, I'll be able to evaluate the difference a little better.

ok here is a question for those who have put a single
distributor on, do you have factory a/c on your car
and did the big single distributor clear the bracket that
holds the a/c compressor?
It looks to me like the big single will not fit with the a/c
bracket in the way.
