ultimatejay it's not my car.thats why i take on these projects, this is what's funding my car.my 9-5 doesnt make me enough cash to fund any of my cars,**** my 9-5 barely pays the ****** bills.so i make money on the side by building friends or family members cars and it helps me get through.nothing is cheap when you are restoring a classic car especially with a turbo set up thats why i havnt finished my coupe.i will get there one day.

So little update, finally got the car started just need to adjust the tps and wire up the radiator fan to a relay.for some reason the Wastegate stays open a bit and sounds like an exhaust leak.in this video I started the car with just the downpipe its not too loud but here it is enjoy.

So today I hooked up a relay to the radiator fan.only another problem now the clutch for some reason doesn't let the gears in so I gotta drop the trans and give it a look to see what's wrong.here is another video.

So took it out for a spin and I'm amazed to the power of the 12a.car runs good and lights up the tires in every gear while already rolling when giving it hard throttle.there is two things i gotta deal with now,I guess from suspension being so old the car rides like a boat its all over the place.my solution to that is we are going to throw in a set of the form function type II coilovers.second problem I didnt like was while free reving the car I get a lot of vibration after around 3000 rpm's,I'm guessing the flywheel might have been changed and doesnt match the rest of the rotating assembly so thats something else I have to take care of.the car has a 8-9 pound Wastegate spring and you can really hear the wastegate scream when it opens up.its my brothers car and he is happy so thats all that matters.I will update more when i put on the coilovers and he has a set of weld draglite wheels that he decided to put on.
If you guys can help me identify what year series 12a engine I got that would be wonderful,or any way to tell just by looking at the block.I know for sure its not a 83-85 12a engine so that brings it down to either 79-80 or 81-82 12a.from what I researched 79-80 have a normal looking front counterweight and 81-82 have a different looking front counterweight.once I figure out the year of the block i can put on the matching flywheel for it and hopefully that takes care of the vibration.any info or help would be appreciated thanks.

I guess the easiest way for you to go about this is to remove the front cover and see what front counterweight you have and see what flywheel you have and go from there. If the front counterweight matches the flywheel, then you have different rotors in there. If the front counterweight doesn't match the rear flywheel, then you have to start with that first. It may take serval guesses to get the right combo. Other than that, you will have to tear the motor apart and see what rotors you have.
Regarding the car riding like a boat and all over the place. Most likely your steering/bushings are toast. Check your tie rods and pitman and idler arms. Also check the lower control arm bushings and ball joints. I had to replace all of mine and that fixed all steering suspension problems. Worn shocks will cause the car to bounce all over the place, not cause the car to dart and pull like you are mentioning.
Good luck and glad your having a blast with the new powerplant.
Ps. I have two 81-82 flywheels if you need them. I think I have the front counterweight too.

^my bad jay I meant to say it bounces around a lot,the actual steering response is real Good but if I push down on the car it tends to go up and down fairly easy.I don't think its the driveshaft cause it has the vibration from a stand still,so I guess i might have to pull of the front cover to see if the front counterweight matches the flywheel it has now.thanks jay for that info it makes alot of sense, too bad I don't know if that motor has ever been rebuilt to tell if it has the early rotors or the later 84-85 rotors.
