I think I purchased the wheels from that car! The guy that I bought them from was from Danbury CT. ???? So I'm guess the car is on the east coast. I blasted the the blue paint off the wheels and restored them back to the original black and mounted them on my car. Is the car being parted or did he just change out the wheels?

The car is still around and is a part of the VMRC.The car belongs to my friend Jose in Bpt.It's getting a bridgeport 12a in it this summer with a turbo2 trans. Those rims you bought where from me and yes they did come off that car. They look nice on your ride John.Makes it look original. You'll get to see pics this spring on the VMRC site of it's transformation. It's still convertable and will be staying that way.The new owner likes it that way because it's different.I've tried to weld a new roof on it but he says no.

you know how the corvette had the removable fiberglass roof on the convertible versions. why not do something like that with this car.

I suggested that to him also but he's more focused on getting it drivable again.Maybe after it's running again he'll let me put a top on it weather it be removable or not.

Ugh, what a waste of a perfectly good Series 2 coupe. The question begs WHY?!?!

And the only other word that springs to mind is.... eww! Sorry if I offend, I guess I'm a purist.

Did they do any reinforcement, after they chopped the top off ? Does the car have problems with the doors opening and closing ?

^ I agree. BU- Butt Ugly. Why would you do that?

I am an M.B tech and someone took a brand new 08 CL550 and chopped the top off and put a canvass softop on it. It looked like ***, pretty much like the rx2 above. That CL goes for over 150,000 and now it's worthless. I really wonder what people think sometimes. I guess whatever floats your boat right?

The car is reinforced but needs more if your going to upgrade the motor for more horse power. The doors open fine no problems. The car did come from Ca. and the job was done there.Since there's no snow in cali I guess he figured to make it convertible.

I am not going to say I like it, but I understand it.

Another thing that we have to remember is that Mazda has an R&D facility in Cali and on more than one occasion I have been offered unusual cars with weird pedigrees that were supposedly styling projects. Unless we know who built it and for whom, you never know there have been weirder things happen.
