RX-3 alternator upgrade
Im planning to upgrade my RX-3’s alternator. I have the 80 amps turbo II alternator and the second gen’s fusebox. Installing it is not a problem but I need help on how to eliminate or bypass the original external regulator. Any input is appreciated. I did a search on this topic but none found.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You can still use the wires but they need to be jumpered like this:
Or you could just get rid of the connector all together. This is on my REPU and has worked since I hooked it up in '98. The connector on the alt itself has one wire that goes to the dash light, and the other wire is switched on with the ignition switch. Somebody else should have a diagram that they could upload.

Jeff,
BTW, I tried your DLIDFIS in my RX-3 and I was impressed. Using a timing gun, I noticed that the light is brighter than stock and almost as bright as my 85’s MSD-DFIS. I’m thinking of trying out the dual igniter too for trailing using one coil? What do you think.
Also, thanks to everyone for quick response. I hope someone can find a schematic.

Cool! It won't work on Trailing though. In my opinion, the time, money and/or parts required to run direct fire Trailing is better spent on the Leading circuit of another car. The amount of power Trailing actually adds to the overall engine output can not justify spending the resources on it to get a naked distributor cap, unless that's what you're after. Speaking of which, I've actually designed a direct fire Trailing ignition that would probably function rather well, but I'm not building it. I don't have enough parts left after my big project (I barely had enough ignitors but still not enough coils), or money, or time. Hmm, maybe if I give in to the obsession someday, I'll do it, but untill then, it's been sort of a race to see who can get theirs running first; a race that I don't think I'll be a part of. I simply do not see a point to it. Well, of course there are bragging rights for the winner. Note: I designed mine in August but need to be persuaded to build it. Fame is lame.
Uh anyway, dual ignitor on one coil for Trailing won't work either. Sorry.
Somebody probably has that drawing of the differences between the T shaped connector and the other S5 style. I actually saved it to my HD so I'll go looking for it right now... found it:
