Rozuki Roturai build

Ok I'm going to try to write up a build for everyone. Seems there are rotary samurai's everywhere but no write ups. So I figured I'd write what I find with mine.

Now lets start the questions.

1) why would you want to do this?
A) Simple. It fits, can bounce off the rev limiter, and has almost triple the HP

2) how are you going to hook up 13b to the sammi transmission?
A) I'm not. the samurai has a divorced transfer case so you can use the rx7 tranny

3) Rotaries have no torque, why would you do this?
A) stock sammy engine has about 40-50 tq I think the 110 tq will be ok.

So I'm starting with a 88 Suzuki Samurai with 4wd. I'm going to keep the 4wd as this will be for off road use.

I've started by locating a good donor car. After seaching I was able to locate a guy that had a 88 FC waiting a v8 transplant. So I was able to get everything I needed

Engine
Trans
engine harness
ECM
Coils
radiator
oil cooler with lines
clutch master and slave
and alot of misc parts.
lucky for me I also got a spare and tranny as well.

Pulled the engine today. Don't think I need to get into detail on this. Pretty much un plugged all sensors and unbolted mounts and out she comes. I did do a test fit with the 13b first to see what we were looking at, then the engine with tranny. The engine should be pretty straight forward. I'm going to need to cut out the stock engine mounts and mock up some new ones but first the tranny. The tranny is going to need to be shorten and mounted first. There is really no way to get around this. I'm going to cut about 4" out of the shift linkage and see where that leads us. I'm also concerned on how to hook the tranny to the transfer case as there isn't much room. Tomorrow I'll be taking apart all the wiring and except the ones going to the cab and the lights. There is no engine wiring harness on this thing like with the rx7 so I'm going to have to get rid of the crap I don't need.

I also painted it. Rattle can flat camo tan with black trim. Turned out really well, the wheels also had paint on them so I took it off to find chrome.

all wiring done as far as the sammi goes. Cut out what I didn't need and cleaned up the bay. I'm currently stripping this block so I can get rid of unwanted items. Might be going with a engine management system to control it, but my buddy ensures me its not necessary. I'm going to do some research first but for now going to fabbing egr plates and oil pump plate and ports.

done some good work today! Cut out the engine mounts on the sammi. Found out I can't cut out the tranny mount. However, I CAN use the stock rx7 tranny mount. Just had to unbolt it and reverse it and worked perfect! just need to drill some holes and get some bolts. Had to cut out the tranny channel for the new shifter location but still worked out pretty good. Also had to modify the shifter linkage to shorten it.

update... so I've taken some time off from this and have back tracked little. I did take the two driveshafts over to a local shop to have them mated. Its going to be a rx7 yoke-ujoint-sammi transfer case mount, should only be a few inches long total. Haven't mounted engine or tranny yet. After the shaft is finised I'm going to place it together and take careful measurements to make sure everything is lined up before mounts are welded in place. Also decided to ditch my original tranny mount set up. The first one was going to mount to the floor and seeing that its not the sturdiest thing in the world I figured out a different way to mount it to the frame but I have to get everything mounted up for I can do that one. Decided today to cut the factory door mounts so the doors can come off and on easily. I also found a grille guard today at the flea market for 8 bucks that is pretty heavy duty and will only take minor modification to make work.

Suzuki 13b N/A 86-88 Non Turbo Set Up

My buddy is doing this swap on a non turbo, and we are stuck on the wiring of the ignition.

Do I need to connect the coil packs to the stock Samurais wiring harness and it's stock ignition wiring? Does anyone have a picture of this setup? Please let me know what you guys did to use the N/A setup and using a 13b stock ecu?

Thanks.
