Has anyone ever seen any old open wheel roadsters running around with rotaries? Anybody got in pics?
I want to build one this winter if my wife don't kill me! I want to do the body in carbon fiber.

That sounds awesome! What are ya planning on putting in it a 12A or 13A extreme street port or a mild or half bridge port sounds like a good engine. With headers and side exhaust and lots-o-chrome

I am planning on putting a fuel injected 13b with peripheral port secondaries. One tube TB feeding both primaries and a tube TB on each peripheral port. The main idea is more for looks than performance. As light as it will be it will be more than enough power even with a stock NA in it. Hopefully I can come up with enough money by winter '03 to setup a turbo on it. Again that is just for looks as well. Because you have to admit that if you saw something like this going down the road you would probably freak pretty big over it.
I found a place that sells carbon fiber for pretty cheap (52" widths for $38 per yard in some cases)
I figure if I get a preformed bucket body that I found in a "Street Rodder" vendor ad for $350.00 I could just glass over it with the carbon graphite to save time on making a mold. Then just clear coat the carbon fiber and that rod would definately be hot!
I used to be a metal fabricator/welder before I got into computers for a living so the frame I can do pretty cheap. The same place that sells the bodies sells dropped front end kits complete with springs and arms for $335.00. Basically things like that will save enough time to buy straight out.
I would really like to find a rolling chassis for a $2000 and cut to the chase on it. But I have been watching Ebay and Autotrader, the classifieds etc. and nothing has come up yet. Most are metal bodys and heavy frames.

That sounds awesome! so it sounds like you have got the whole thing planned out. you know what would be cool is if you could get the engine polished by the folks over across the pond at www.3rotor.com now that is T-Bucket worthy

Damn those guys know how to put a shine on. Anthony Bulger lives a few miles from me and he does polishing, powder coating as well as really good customizing of all types. I will definately employ his services on several areas of this project.

So... time to resurrect this ten year old thread! Did you ever get the project off the ground? I'm planning out a build for this winter and was wondering if you had any problems that I should be prepared for (aside from the hot rod traditionalists)?

to the resurrecter. i have a lotus super 7 clone with a 13b and the biggest problem you will have is cooling the oil and water with the narrow frontal area, currently holding 200 oil and 160 water but it takes air flow and area. use an FC oil cooler and not behind or in front of anything. and good luck.

Model A roadster with a 13B. more pictures with the add, it might give you some ideas.
Cheers

No clue if scalliwag ever got this project off the ground... I think he more or less disappeared years ago. Sold several custom engine stand adapters and other custom build parts on eBay to a handful of buyers (including me), took the money (they were BIN auctions), then never delivered. No clue whatever happened to him after that.
