Absolutely nowhere. Unless you spoke to a Mazda dealer and find out where they send guys for Renesis training, maybe. Your best bet is to work out special programs of study in a regular college, usually in Junior and Senior level classes if you want a 4-year.

Theres no reason to go to college to learn about rotaries when you can learn what you need to know about everything on here and from first-hand experience.

P.S. Most colleges expect you to be able to at least spell half the words right in a paragraph...

bs

I've been told that there are no courses on the rotary by mazda, but there are a few courses that teach rotary for aviation. The engines are slightly different of course, but the overall concept and most of the parts are the same.

An aviation " rotary engine" is not a wankel although there are kit planes that use 13b's and such a "rotary" airpalne engine is a type of radial pistion engine and the rotary refers to a rotating crankcase witha stationary crank.

I've alwasy heard it called a radial engine, period. They're nearly always arranged in prime numbers (5, 7, 11, 13) but sometimes 9 cylinders at a time. They can also be stacked as much as 4-deep to give you 20-or so cylinders.

Hate to bust your bubble, but there is no better automotive school in the world than WyoTech. My son in law went there for 2 years graduated top of his class. Yes, there is a TON of book learning, and if you can't spell or read (no offense to some damn fine mechanics who are illiterate) DO NOT go to WyoTech. You should apply if you want a top flight education with plenty of hands-on time with diagnostic equipment that isn't available anywhere else in the Western Hemisphere (this is not an exaggeration---they actually have two pieces of equipment that are unique to the Americas and one piece that is unique in the world).

While Ben was there, he talked about plenty of guys who bitched and moaned about too much time in the books. In most of the cases, the guys weren't cutting it in the hands on department either.

This is a damn tough school, expensive, and demanding. In addition to the technical stuff, there is also shop management curricula available. All necessary in this world of professional service.

When Ben graduated he had job offers from BMW, Audi, Volvo and Jag. When he finally took an offer from Audi, they gave him an outrageous salary, for his age. Now, less than 2 years after he graduated, he passed all his ASE certifications and is Master Guild. Not too shabby for a 22 year old.

They are radial engines but are called "rotary type radial engines." just to clarify what I was getting at, the rotary engines that they teach you about in aviation schools is the radial rotary not the wankel.

car-tech classes and school stuff to get certified ase type stuff is half "how to use obd2" stuff nowadays. however, wyotech seems to have a very good rep for car repair of every sort. i doubt they have any rotary teaching at all, but i'd go there in a heartbeat if i could afford it.
