Repu for sale?

ok so heres the deal, i found a Repu (orange with original "Rotary Power" stickers). The truck is not what i consider in Good shape, however from the outside there is ZERO rust, (need to inspect the underside better) and zero body damage. Paint is in need of some help (serious oxidizing, ect)

Interior has some damage (mostly just dirty, so i'll clean it out to see the extent of the damage)

Engine original 13b from what i can tell (its dirty also) and supposedly runs (has sat for a while, and needs new battery, so running is up in the air) and has the original manual transmission.

now i realize that your just going off the description that i've given you, and no pictures. However what do you think this truck would be worth, given off my description?

I will however try to get pictures next Friday (will be the next time i get to go see the truck.)

wish me luck in picking this thing up!!!

In So. Cal you could expect to pay 2K-2.5K for it, even more if you are desperate for one. They are pretty rare, and probably even rarer given your location.

The most rust prone area would be the battery box IMO so if thats good I imagine the rest should be OK. But I'd be pretty amazed if you dont find some serious rust from a truck in yoiur part of the country. What year is it ('77 have bigger cab)? I think 2500$ would be alot to pay for a truck in non running condition and at that point I would pick up one of the ones Ive seen lately in running condition, decent shape for 3000-3500. I would say more like 1500$ but more if the body really is in great shape and parts like the front valence, grill emblems, etc are still in decent shape.

Smaller cab is 74-76. Good luck finding a 77, it's rather hard. Most common year seems to be 74.

You should also check for rust under the wheel wells. It accumulates really badly underneath, and it eventually eats through the sheet metal behind the fenders.

REPU's are alot of fun, I was fortunate enough to ride in one many years ago, but the project was eventually parted out and the majority of it was sent to the crusher. I wish I could have bought it.

Just went and looked at the truck again (again no pics sorry )

checked out the build date on the truck. 3/77 !!!!! i was pretty stoked about that considering you said they are rarer.

took a look around the truck to get a better gyst of everything. oddly enough the only bad thing wrong with the body is the doors? dont ask me why. looked inside all the wheel wells, zero rust.

the bad part on the truck is the interior. The dash is kinda torn apart (its cracked in the center) and is missing the center dash piece where the A/C, heat controls, and radio go (center bezel).

Realizing that these trucks are rare, how hard do you think it would be to find one of those?

Also got in pulled the choke, engine spun freely, when cranked but then after about 5 secs of cranking the battery died.

So seeing as i now know this is a 77' with a virtually rust free shell, what is this truck worth. (im picking this up next weekend officially, the wife ok'd it...lol

Well since you're getting it, it really doesn't matter what others think it is worth. I am sure you are getting a great deal, so enjoy it.

I am not really sure how hard it would be to find a center piece for all of the controls. REPU parts randomly pop up on here or ebay, but it's rather rare. And I am not sure if the Ford Courier pickup's from that year would be universal. You should send Jeff20B a PM, he should know the answer.

I do know that years ago a friend of mine and forum member in Maryland was parting out a REPU, and he might have some stuff left over. His forum name is Fd3BOOST. Don't be upset if he does not respond right away, he's not has active as he used to be. If he does not respond to you within 1-2 weeks, just let me know and I will send him an email.

From what I gather, 3000 77s were made before they were discontinued due to poor sales. Funny thing, the brochure for the "new" 77s infact showed pictures of the previous style.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but the 77s were built using leftover 76 courier cabs. Another fast giveaway would be if the battery box door is smooth and flush with the body.

What was the asking price?

As far as how much its worth, that would be a subjective question IMO. Whats it worth to YOU is prob what matters most. Very rare, very cool find. Hope to see pics soon. I would love to have one of these, no matter what year. Grats

Congrats of the find, FYI the 75 model R.E.P.U would be the rarest.
Only 113 of them compared to 632 in 1976 and 1,161 in 1977.
The 74 model is most plentiful with 14,366.

Not really. I am picking up a 77 RX-5 for 500 that is running and has hundreds of parts included. That is whenever I get off my *** and go get it. It's 900+ miles away.

Post pictures when you get it.

I believe the fender flares are aftermarket. I have never seen them on pictures from the Mazda REPU brochures.

I'm not sure of the lug pattern.

Here you go, some info, but no real definitive answer, but it gives you an idea. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ttern+for+REPU
