Yep, like I said, needs a little fine tuning. I will probably drop it another 1/2"- 1" inch both front and back. Have to be careful dropping an RX2. They are not like RX7's. Drop em too low and you end up in ditch or through a wall.

Hey JC,

What car are those mirrors off of?

Also, how did you manage to fit 17" wheels without trimming the fenders? I saw a guy at SS (Tom) who was running some custom Boyd's wheels and he had to trim his fenders to clear the wheels.

Mirrors are off of a first gen.

Fenders will need to be trimmedm but for right now this will work. I needed to get the wheels on so I could move it around the garage. I need to be able to move it to get the old engine out, and the new engine in.

Man, those rims make the car look bigger! Still not sure the route I'll be taking but I like to see you're doing something different.

BTW: a few months ago Rishie and I were talking about offsets for old school rotaries and he told me you picked up those Rotas from him. There is usually less than six degrees of separation in the old school crowd!!!

Oh yeah Dave, been meaning to ask you where you got the sway bar from? I was told Addco and Whiteline still show part #'s but aren't making them anymore. PM with the info!

Looking Goood Jesus!
when you said you will need spacer "to get them just right" what you mean , because of the rubbing?
i want to go with the same combination but the wheels i like the offsets are +35 or +40 i cant find the +20!

also do you, or anyone knows if using spacers are allowed when racing on the drag strip?

Andres

Yes rubbing. If I could find the same wheel in a 7" up front I would be fine but low offset wheels are next to impossible to locate.

I was planning on having a set of custom wheels made in the future so I would not have to deal with spacers. I do not know if they will let you drag with them or not. My guess is probably not.

I ordered mine from Whiteline in Australia about 4 months ago. They are still making them.

Dave, sportmax makes 16x8 0 offset and 16x8 +15 offset wheels in 5 lug that would look better in my opinion. They're the 001 and 501 wheels, I believe.

Too bad they wont fit. You will never get an 8 inch rim under the front of an RX2 without flares. The 7.5's I have are pushing it.

Anyways, I like these wheels and they will suit me fine until I can have something custom made.

Well it has been sometime since I updated, so I took some new pics of the progress. The car is very dirty as it has been sitting for several months, but you get the idea.

Cosmo 13BRE Engine and ford explorer 8.8 rear end are in. Custom 3 inch drive shaft has been fabbed and installed.

Rene, from Rene's muffler did the custom turbo manifold and exhaust. Turbo is an Aspec 500R, A.K.A a custom garret GT35/40R. I also had Rene fab up all the mounts and install the custom intercooler, and radiator set up. This guy does some amazing work. I still have to take it back to him so he can reroute the wastegate into the exhaust.

Fuel system is in and complete. I am running a Carter black pump, that is feeding a swirl pot in the trunk. From here a Bosch 044 feeds the engine. All lines in the trunk, and engine bay are steel braided with larger solid lines under the car.

Brakes and steel braided brake lines are in and functional. 11.8 inch aerospace engineering big brake kit in front, cross drilled and slotted. Rear is 11 inch cross drilled and slotted disc brakes from a ford explorer.

I did not want to mess with the electronics, so I turned it over to my friend Gazo at J&G automotive for the haltech install. This is another shop that does some fantastic work on rotaries. Plus he is an RX2 fanatic like me, so it helps.

I hope to have it running in the next month or so, then it is off to by dyno tuned.

enjoy the pics.

man sexy, im so glad a lot of you guys live out here in so cal it seems to be rotary central out here, i remember when i was building 240's people would offer to help but they always lived out of state or very far. But i know so many people out here in so cal that are into rotaries its starting to get ridiculous. Now if i could just reprogram myself so i can stop thinking in terms of piston motors lol.

Car is lookin super hot, makes me really want to get started on my starlet. Once i get it done im going to have to hit some of you guys up and we should do an old school cruise in so-cal. mmmm mid 80's and older rotary powered cars mmmm. Man what a sound that would be like 10 of us rolling down the freeway lol.

Out of curiosity did anyone go to jccs last year and see my bright *** orange car there ? A couple of peoples rx's look familiar and i could swear i saw them there.

Keep up the good work on the car, it was interesting to see someone else that is using 4 link right now with a ford explorer rear end. Thats what im going to do but im keeping the 4 link and buying groundcontrol coilover conversion kits for front and rear, except ill be running mr2 struts that are shortened slightly up front and camaro shocks in the rear all adjustable koni's though.

Subscribed i think this thread is where im going to get my motivation to finish the car from lol. Gotta love oldschool where you have to custom fabricate 90% of the parts because no one makes em lol

Thumbs up on the car man im lovin it

man i have to say something about this again, your brake setup is so damn nice. I would be VERY proud of the car man the underside is spotless your brake and suspension setup is sick. Once you get that thing sorted its going to be fast and handle like scalded cat.
