Power drain on RX-2
Ok guys I need some help... this is probably obvious for you guys but I am not sure. When I turn on my headlights at might my dash dims considerably, and then if I hit the brake pedal the dash and headlights dims even more, and then when my shift light comes on the whole dash practically goes black, so the power is draining way too much. Also when this happens the check engine light comes on. So what can I do to preven this from happening... new alternator? Thanks for the help.

What alternator are you currently running?
I have an 83' in mine and when i turn on my lights my idle drops
slightly. The electrical systems suck MPO, though i realy like this car iv been thinking of switching to an 2nd gen. internal regulated system and getting rid of that old asz voltage regulator.

The regulator is out of an 85. Could it be a bad voltage regulator? Also, this is out of my domain, so how would you switch over to a second gen system. What parts and work is needed?
