Pics of My REPU in the paintshop

She was a rust project in need of a bedfull of TLC but after 15 months of hard work almost every weekend and several vacation days now she's looking very pretty.

These pics are after base coats sprayed, at the beginning of colorsanding, before buffing and final clear coat. It is the original 1974 Lawn Green color. Enjoy!!!

Does that shade of green have a name?
Do you have the paint code?

Haha, "lawn green" or "grass green" is what I always call mine. I need to get my *** in gear and start fixing up the body on mine. I cant wait to see what yours looks like when it is done, may be enough inspiration for me to get going.

thanks guys.... me and the girlfriend can't believe it looks this good. it had surface rust all over the place when i bought it.. looks like original owner drove a gravel road and lived in Santa Cruz humid salty city!!

yeah... i like those rims too. they were rusty of course and on their third paint job when i bought the truck. stripped them down to bare metal.... 2 coats primer....2 coats white epoxy paint....2 coats clear coat.....

i might try to put together a big brake kit for REPU. Stock brakes are mediocre. upgrade to 15" rims and 225/55/15 tires would give same diameter as 235/60/14 what i have right now.

FD rims . . . . early ones have cracking problem and i like these rims a LOT. . . . .they could be good for a spare for rear if i go big brake in front.

i should have her road ready in february realisticly...

TOM i do hope you get your repu painted by sevenstock. we could park next to each other... 2 lawn greens side by side!!

That would be cool, but next year I am probably taking my FD. I would really love to have something reasonable comfortable to drive the trip for once, but if I do get the REPU painted by then it will almost definately be going.

I have never seen or heard of Fd rims cracking.
I have had three sets of them myself.

I do like your rims but wonder where you came up with the Fd rim cracking thing?

when @ buttonwillow raceway park with the so cal rx7club, the dyno shop had some FD rims for sale. one guy said he would need to check them for cracks first because the early FD rims cracked on the backside. others agreed. sure enough, all the rims were cracked. saw it myself! JUNK.

yes, i brought my blue 7 to sevenstock this year. blue bulb brake lights. i actually thought they were not as bright as stock when i looked at them across the street. but then again, i don't have any stock colored lenses in there now to filter light thru.

glad you liked it. they usually get attention when i drive it around sevenstock or the paddock.

Dude those things were super bright! I could see them all the way down the street when you were cruizin by the line of cars waiting for sevenstock to open. Looked great!

Thas weird, must be a west coast problem.
Maybe its in the air. Never seen or even heard of anything like that here in the North East. I have two sets down in my basement right now and no cracks anywhere on the eight of them. One set is 93 the other is 94.

Any updated truck pix??

It is only the very early FD rims that had the problem, I think they were all from like the first half of 92 and late 91. They only weighed like 12 (?) pounds vs the 16 pounds that the later rims weighed.

Tom hit the nail on the head. It was the very early ones that crackity.

Went to the paint shop yesterday. Truck was colorsanded, buffed, and sprayed with clear.

LOOKED GOURGEOUS!

I'll tow her home Saturday then put her back together again. Almost all the little stuff that bolts onto the car is cleaned, polished, and repainted. Not sure I want to install the chrome tail light rings; all of mine are missing a loop or two and they might come off.
