photos of my new RX-2
Here are the photos of my new RX-2 sedan
http://www.thedotcommune.com/album.php?id=31
I picked up two of them but the red one is too rusty for me so I sold it. This one is really solid but it has a little currosion below the windshield gasket, though it looks tl be simple to fix.
I replaced the ignition switch (found a new one while cleaning out the trunk) and replaced the alternator (the one on there was shorted internally and blowing my main fuseable link and smoking) with a rebuild I got at Kragen for $28! That's definitely a change from the $250 Bosch rebuild for my BMW.
The front seats are trashed, the rear one is fine, carpets are gross and need to be tossed and replaced, trunk carpet is cleaning up a little. Headliner is ok but dash is cracked. Everything seems to be pretty stock and unmolested under the hood but the car has sat for one year or more and needs a tuneup badly.
It has an automatic, which really needs to go. I bought a pedal box on ebay and I have a line on a mid-shift gearbox so hopefully this slushbox will be in the trash soon. The "park" position on it doesn't work anyway, which makes for interesting starts in Neutral.
So far I've driven the car a few blocks, wherein it ran great and then decided to die on me repeatedly and be hard to restart. Engine speed dropped toward 0 rpm and the car shut off eventually. Then I had a hard time starting it and when it started it would die as soona s I moved it into "D" from "N". Perhaps there's something wrong with the automatic or perhaps the carb needs adjustment, I'm really not sure.

nice nice, glad to see another person on here in to the 2's and owns one also. I own a 1972 Rx2 2dr, picked it up for 200. Your body looks really good man, do something neat with it, and most of all, have fun.

thanks! for now my goals are to:
- make it run reliably, preferably for longer than the 3 min it runs now
- get some front seats
- get rid of the automatic
- get rid of the emissions crap
- clean up the windshield gasket area and install a new gasket and probably a new windshield before any rain starts
overall though I'd like to fix it up and keep it pretty original, I can't really afford to do much with it for now.

Doesn't look like you need a new windshield, just pull off the trim and take windshield out and clean up the rust prob. That is what I plan to do to mine while its nice out side still.

the windshield has a crack in the lower driver side corner and the lamination is starting to bubble a little. However if it comes out in one piece when I remove it and if a new one is prohibitively expensive I'll just reinstall it with a new gasket after cleaning up the metal.
I found this RX-2 coupe on ebay:

'wish mine was that color combo
