On the early 13bs ( 74 - ) there is a spring based chain tensioner. The chain and tensioner is no longer available. Is it possible to install a 86- on chain on these early engines ? Are the sprockets the same ?

 

Mazda just stopped using the tensioner, but they didn't change anything else. so you can just leave it off.
