I got one. You will need to unbolt the oil pedestal. Now, if you have the newer RX-7 engines, there are 2 nuts down below. For the older ones, the nuts are on top with 2 long studs. And it goes in between the block and the oil pedestal. pix blow. Also, dont buy it from RB. Instead, get it from REspeed for $21.99 including shipping. PM bwaits. I just ordered one from him for my FB. Just like the RB ones, it is pre-tapped for oil temp and oil pressure gauge. For an extra $5, I requested 2 1/8 to allow me to have oil pressure, turbo oil feed and oil pressure. If you're going to use an oil filter relocation kit, I dont have an answer for that but Im sure it can be done as long as you use long studs.

Stick out like a sore thumb? I have seen many cars with this block and I dont have any issues with it. This is an old RB block...before the oil pedestal wtih oil temp/pressure became available. If you dont like it, then buy something else and lets see if you can mount a oil filter relocation block on top of it. *******!!!

I think it looks sexy. It would look even better with a ReSpeed block.
Matt22, The reason the block is long and sticks out like that is due to the fact that the temp probe on mechanical gauges is long. The blocks are made to put the tip of the probe in the oil passage way. So the extra material needs to be there.
If you are concerned with looks, I would recommend using electronic gauges. The electronic oil temp gauge would use a 1/8 NPT port to pull from. You can use our pedestal replacement block that has 2 NPT holes - Maybe it would look better.

Hey what's the thread pitch on that block? Reason I ask is I already have an oil temp gauge in my car but the probe isn't hooked up.. I'm trying to think up somewhere to install it. The probe is like 3" long though, is this normal or freakish?

Never tried with a relocation kit. It would depend on how the kit is done. I have seen some that screw on like an oil filter and some that sandwich. You would just have to try it. If it does not work - make it work.
The only round style parts we have replace the entire pedestal.

I just tapped and threaded the oil filter pedestal itself. Theres a fitting that comes with the oil pressure guage and you need only to match that thread pitch. I also have a remote oil filter and it all fits pretty hunky dorey. Gotta love cleaning out that oil filter. Its so easy.
