Need help would like to autocross

I have an 85GSLE. It is all stock at this point except performance headers. What type of shocks, rotors, brake calipers, wheels etc. I read it is best to take out the air conditioning, spare tire etc to reduce weight. I am a novice at autocross and don't want to buy the wrong parts. I was also told by someone who has a gen 2 and he put in a K&N filter in the existing filter box and cut open breather holes. Is that wise?

I could use some help.

thanks

Your intake is similar to the 2nd gen, but cutting holes in the intake will change what class you want to run in. If you're running in the stock classes, you can only change shocks, which I've always liked the Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustables. Ask the guys in the 1st-Gen forum.
