My new '74 Mazda RX4

After many many years of searching, I finally located and purchased my first RX4! I currently own a 74' Repu but never a RX4. It arrived really late last night thanks to the transport company that delivered my 4 at midnight! I didn't care because I just wanted to have my 4 in my procession. Car came without engine and tranny which is good for me because I get to put a engine of my choice in there and a 5 speed tranny from a 7. There are few rust spots and worst one seem to be the trunk lid. As I lifted up the trunk lid, rust was falling out of it so I started to checked online and found Manny were selling a trunk lid with few small dents/scratches on it. Paid it and it should get here within a week. Interior is in great shape. Head lining and overhead console is super clean with all attached buttons and dome light. Back seats has few lose stitches on the top and both driver and passenger seats will need to be redone. Few cracks on dash and all 4 windows rolls up and down.Carpet seem to be in great shape. Odometer reads 49K miles on it....I'm sure it had turned over once or few times! All glass are great and not realizing the 4's front windshield has a build in antenna for the radio! All chrome trims are very intact exception of left side rocker panel missing a small piece. I don't really care for it...I'm going to take them off and fill in the holes.

Anyway, I'll let you guys check out the pics of my new 4! Enjoy...

Tim

Thanks rx71king...I had an '81 rx7 as well and I realized the same restriction laws, I sold it quick and just concentrated on the Repu and now the 4!

Interior of this 4 is in great shape considering its age so don't have to worry too much about it. All though, I want to get it running first by putting an engine in it first. I want to go single turbo but all depends on my finance. If not, I'll just go basic with a 13B BPort. I will need to get the engine bay sorted out first by primed and paint first b4 engine goes in and worry about the bodywork later.

Very clean shell to start with. A nice 13B will be right at home in there.

Congrats

Looking forward to see how your build comes along.... Please don't remove the rocker panel trim and fill the holes, polish the hell out of all the chrome trim parts and it will pop. I think John Smack on this forum has your peices.

Cheers

J

Was this the one in Washington a couple months back? Roy, Wa. I believe? I see an old Oregon plate... Looks like a great start.

Great- another 'competitor' for parts... Only kidding.

That's a very solid starting point, can't wait to see it around town! I have a new found appreciation for 4's, body lines are sexy!! Haha!! I agree with sa23srx4, keep all the trim and just polish it. It really compliment the body lines. Are you planning on keeping it the original blue color?

RX2 Mazda Fan....thanks buddy! Ok, I'm in the process of searching for that one piece of trimming I need and hopefully John Smack will have one for me.

Regarding the color...I really dislike that blue. I'm leaning towards a lighter gun metal metalic gray from a 2010 Rangerover! Well, at least that's the plan....
