Mazda RX4 Real or Fake? 1800CC / LA2VS

Hi guys,

I hope you're all well.

I am in need of some advice. I went to see a Mazda 'RX4 Coupe'.

However, I spotted a few red flags.

The shape of the car matches that of an RX4 Coupe (example pictures attached). However, the engine did not appear to be a 13b engine, but rather a 1800CC engine which I think was fitted in the later 929's? I have attached an image of what the engine looked like.

The Vin number also begins with "LA2VS"....which I also believe indicates that is it a Mazda 929?

Can someone please advise whether I am correct with my reservations? Or did the Mazda RX4 come fitted with 1800cc engines? and confirm what an RX4 vin number usually begins with?

Many thanks

yes, 929 was a piston engine version of the rx4 like the 808 was a piston version of the rx3.
