making a 13bt run by its self

i have been looking into what would be required to make a 13bt run on its own for a swap into an older car. no smog would be required. if a standalone is used what is required? and what if the stock computer was used, or is that even possible? i know a lot about the components of the 13bt but i dont know much about standalone computers. the motor would be out of an 88. thanks guys.

Interesting question, suggest you post it in the 2nd gen forum though, they would be able to help you.

I had a 1973 RX3 with an 87-88 13BT motor in it. It was completely stock. Stock block and transmission and stock computer. Car ran great I drove it around for over 3 years as a daily driver then sold it to a friend who still drives it. Pretty simple setup really all you need is a complete motor and transmission. The ecu with a complete wiring harness, basically the whole wiring loom that attaches to the ecu. Which would include all the sensor, ignition system and injection system. I even used the ignition switch from the turbo car so basically I had two separate wiring harnesses in my car the factor for all the lights and the turbo harness for the motor. On the motor you have to change to front engine mount from a 84-85 gslse 13b and also need the oil pan from the same year rx. And you need to fab a custom driveshaft the splines on the turbo trans are different than the n/a rx7 driveshafts. That's about it. It's alot of work but not impossible. Hope this helps and good luck.

sounds good. the rough plan is to put the motor in an old datsun 1600. my rx7 was stolen and recovered in pretty bad shape. The motor only had 2000 miles on it. if the motor isnt destroyed i wan to transplant it into something unique.
