Ole Skool Exhaust System question?

This question is for all you ole skool rotary owners........

When upgrading your exhaust to a Header & Custom Exhaust is anyone having Heat shields customized also to protect the Floor Pans & undercarriage from melting?

Reason i'm asking is.....Whoever owned My Deuce previously & installed the custom exhaust did not install any heat shields & boy let me tell ya!!! You could boil water on my pass side Floor pan!

yep you can say that agen, at the dealer ship we had one guy put lead on the tail pipe and it would melt, the older ones "per cat" had a late timing to help get the ex temp up real fast on cold start up, that reactor thing that looked like a big trash can exhust manifold, well any how if you still got points and they are hooked up to that funny control box under the dash than yep it's going to get hot, there is a temp sensor switch over the muffler hook to one of them yellow lite on the left of the streeing wheel next to the choke, I dont have any of that any more went fuel injected and pointles long time ago
