IL Just threw my engine...Need some engine advice.

Hey all,
I have done my engine in, I have metal shavings over the bay and inside the internals from what I saw from where you pour the oil.
So what engine to get? I want to be putting down around 300 hp, so turbo it is.
So the question is: Which block/year engine is the best to purchase or is it better to piece an engine together, taking the best parts from whatever years.
I don't have a huge budget, as i just recently purchased the vehicle.
My bloody luck sucks.

Get a t2 engine and port it. you can get by with some decent power just stock till you get more money for a turbo upgrade.

Ok members...I have a potential couple of engines that have come up. Now the question is which one to get and please let me know why, so i may learn a little.
I have 1 choice of a 91 NA for $400 or 95 FD engine ,no turbo included, price 700.
Which to get and why?

the one with the water jacket pressure tested, and the engine tested with the most compression , If they pass inspection, the 91 has the highest compression and lighter rotors of all N/As, but the FD has huge ports which can generate a lot of horsepower,it has light rotors and high compression for rotary turbo, , but would be a lot more complicated to install even if you have the computers and all harness connectors for the individual engines also you might be able to bolt the 91 in ,place with the stock oil pan from the RX 4 Eng and use the front cover from a 85 RX7 SE and bolt the cover to the stock mounts, the FDs mounts are located at the back of the engine, .................Good Luck.................... If you can do some mechanical work yourself, I'd say tear down your old engine and see what it's like. If it's rebuildable, rebuild it with some heavier apex seals and turbo that engine. Could go with a cool turbo carb setup. The stock Rx-4 engine has pretty healthy intake ports and 3mm apex seals already. I'd clean up the intake ports, port the exhaust ports a bit and away you go. You'd still be in about 3-4k though by the time you get a heavier clutch, carb and turbo setup, rebuild kit etc. Depends on what kind of deals you get.

3rd gen motor TII transmission not that hard to do, turbo is where it's at. You might aswell go this route I'm sure later on you gonna want more horse power. I was gonna do a 13b street port on my 3, I ended up doing a 3rd gen swap which I'm glad I did...I said the same thing too when I started the project "budget" but as we all know there's nothing budget about these cars... you'll soon find that out as you start the build...
