It's ALIVE!!!!!!
Welding tranny tunnel back together - $200
Welding 16ga steel box over repaired tunnel - $200
Spray paint for steel box - $4
Welding seat to repair hole created by drive shaft - $30
Used low mileage transmission - $(expensive)
API 5 gear fluid - $8
New driveshaft - $185
Driving around the block in brick/vinyl suburbia on a sunny Saturday afternoon in a road race RX3 (check ride) - PRICELESS [grin]
I don't think I broke 2500rpm (and the wife griped about hearing THAT from the other side of the neighborhood), but I sure made an impression on a few kids riding bikes, and even got a thumbs up from one Dad leading the kids down the sidewalk.
======================================
At three in the morning, when your knuckles are bleeding, and you are drenched from head to toe in the juice that is the air in Alabama in July, and that one stinking part doesn't want to go back, I ask myself why I do THIS for fun?
When the green flag drops, and I am in that pack of 30+ cars going flat on the throttle simultaneously, I remember, and savor that moment for weeks to come
I didn't make Ohio, as the car was a day late being ready (my fault), but I will make Kershaw, SC (God willing) on 8/13-8/15.
Anybody in SC that wants to stop by the paddock and say hi, we'll see you there.
later
