Question Integra swap?

Hey have any of you guys heard of a rotary powered integra? Because a friend of mine is getting his moms '92 integra and it needs a new engine and trans so since I talk about how great rotarys are he wants to put a 13B in it now.

Has anyone here ever seen one? I just want some references so I could see and learn from their mistakes and successes but if it hasn't been done before thats good too I like unique cars and cars that are the first ones to a certain car/engine combo. I'll figure it out.

your opinions, comments, and Ideas welcome

You're basically looking at making a new chassis and putting the Integra skin on over that.

You can either try to figure out a way to mate the rotary to a FWD transaxle (NOT the Honda one - Honda engines rotate backwards so it won't work) and then work all that in under the hood (good luck - rotaries are fairly tall and Hondas have very low hoodlines) or you can convert the car to RWD by changing the rear suspension, convert the car to front-steer so the rack doesn't go through the engine and of course the floor would need to be massively altered.

Believe it or not, the second way is probably cheapest/easiest... just make a tube frame chassis and put the Integra body panels on over it.

If you're starting to think that it would be quite expensive and time consuming, you're getting the idea.

Don't try to do that. Allow me to go Honda for a sec people...

What kind of set-up is he looking at? N/A? Turbo?

The LS (B18B) is a good turbo engine. Non-VTEC, good power-band.

The GSR (B18C1) is a very nice N/A engine. VTEC, very high rev'ving.

If he has the money, a Type-R (B18C5) is a very good. It's just that much more expensive. Dont turbo this, the reason it has good hp is the compression; which will just change with turbo.

Somewhere like Hondamotorsonline.com has good prices. I personally recommend Hondaswap.com to anyone who's considering changing Honda engines. Very friendly people on the forum.

If he's getting a GSR/Type-R, make sure it's a B18C**1/5**; these indicate a USDM engine. I won't go into the JDM/USDM debate...

First: You'll want to change the compression on that motor. Basically = not worth it, just get a cheaper b18c1.

Second: He asked about a freakin Honda, not me.

ok, you threw me off there for a minute with the way you worded it the first time. i though you were under the impression that a turbo would change your compression ratio.

Sorry about the confusion.

And since he was talkin about hondas, might as well chime in help him. Just don't even try putting a rotory into a honda(especially a rwd conversion).
