ignition questions

We resurrected a 1985 RX7 GSL witha 12A motor that had been sitting around a while. THe more we drive it the better it runs, but I have two questions.
What is the correct firing order? My Haynes manual show it as L2, T2, L1, T1 but the markings on the dist. cap are L2, T2, T1, L1..

Also, what exactly do the igniters do and how will it act if I have a bad one?

Thanks for any info.
