the 8.8 is lighter. plus if you can find a ford thunderbird, some of them came with rear disc. Thats what im planning to get but a new motor (13-B bridge in the works) comes first so I can transfer the engine in my RX-3 to my 1st gen.

I've got an rx-3 with a 13b 4-port, The gsl-se rear-end is pretty strong, its been holding up very good. I would put the se rearend on its a lot lighter.

how doing,In oz we tend to go either ford 9inch or toyota hilux.the best thing about the hilux is their strength, wide range of ratios.eg-4.1,4.3,4.5[hard to find],4.8,5.3,5.7and they are relatively cheap.we actually do the resplining, shorting of housing, and the whole kit and kaboole.i reckon a hilux will be fine, but if your punchin out over say 350 odd HP at wheels i'd go the 9inch,just to be sure.P.S 2wd early 70's hilux-hang on do you get them or not?

i would go with a datsun pick up truck diff. if you want it for racing that holds beats and it's light.i just sold one cause i bought a 9 ford and it was a big mistake there good but very heavy, and datsun is light the guy that sold it to is going to put it on a rx-3 they work good.
