Question I cant get it to run RX3

This Little wagon has a single dizzy. I am getting some fire x the points, and some at the plugs, The dizzy has been twisted about and is loose. I have found the pointer and the timing notches .It is getting gas, the battery is up and everything else electrical works.Have checked all the fuses and they are OK. Can install new points and condensers. What am I overlooking. Bob Napoleon Mi

You have fuel and spark. How about the compression?

-how long has it been sitting,
-if long, plug plugs and pour small amount of atf (old type F or mercon type prefered)to clean, lubricate and help seal rotor componants and housings (will cause smoking after starting and may take a short time to clear as engine and exhaust comes up to temp)
-compression test done or at least check for strong even pulses alternating out each leading plug hole (trailings in place but disabled)?,
-sparking at points is normally not a good sign if during engine cranking (condensor weak or shot typically), install tune up parts and set by gap or dwell angle if equipment handy
-condition of plugs?
-how old is gas?
-does accel pump in carb work?
-fuel in carb (check float site glasses front and rear with mirror/flashlight)

If you can, get an '84-'85 distributor. This will eliminate the points problem. Plenty of write-ups on the forum of how to do this.

If the engine has been sitting for a length of time and sticking seals may be a possibility, then ATF would be the better choice, ATF's thin viscosity and lower surface tension give it greater capillary action to get into the tight tolerances around the stuck seals quicker, the higher detergent content helps keep freed contaminants in suspension longer. It contains an EP (Extreme Pressure) lube additive that will help minimize galling of stuborn seals against rotor and/or iron housings, it has conditioners that will help soften hardened o-rings, it does not fowl sparkplugs as quickly, and will burn off faster than engine oil without leaving a coke like deposit... were in this application, engine oil offers the benifit of... ... well it's engine oil.

I have been doing the same **** for over 20 years with no issues. in fact, I have revived many engines coming up from many years out of storage including junkyard engines with just a "regular engine oil." for piston, yes but I wont use that crappy ATF on rotaries. no wonder my engines have lasted for many years despite the daily abuse. in addition, oil not just lubricate the motor but also help build compression

so what would happen when rubber seals are soaked with ATF

After throwing a set of points and condensers at it ,it starts and runs, now to tune it up.Now the fuel pump is shot Geeez!so I spent the day cleaning it out and making all the doors work except the rear deck.for some reason the yellow jackets want to move in and nest. Bob
